i always thought jim beam was better then wild turkey.i saw they had some 8 percent pre mixed wild turkey rare breed and coke now though

they do seem have a pretty good bargain 101 proof bourbon though.i just always figured wild turkey was some cheap bottom shelf type stuff

where at? never had it. could i find it at the local mgm?

I don't usually shop MGM, but Liquor Boy in St Louis Park, and South Lyndale Liquor in Mpls. both have it.

If you want a great Rye at a terrific price, look for "Old Overholt" at Byerly's.

Good luck!

I've been on a Bourbon kick for a while. My favorite is Pappy 12 year "lot b". I have a few bottles, but it's so hard to get I save it only for special occasions. Next in line I like the Angels and Envy Rye not the straight bourbon (they make both). Then I'd go for the W L Weller aged, very close to pappy. Then Bookers, Bakers and such. My standard low cost one is the Bulliet, because I get it from Trader Joe's Cheap.

Another vote for Buffalo Trace, that's my go-to

I suggest you buy all these recommendations, drink them, and get back to us

oh and speaking of drinking bourbon straight,is it ok to add sugar to it? i was watchin one of those youtube bourbon reviews and this guy was drinking it straight but he added somethin that looked like sugar to it and stirred it before he drank it

also in terms of
many that are better tasting.
what are some better tasting ones in the same price zone

This is correct. If you're going to mix it, don't even waste your money on something nice.

Otherwise, Jim Beam Black Label is really good. So is the Woodford people mentioned. I like Basil Hayden's too.

Those would probably be my favorite bourbons.

I heard Booker's was really good, but I haven't tried it yet. It's a little more expensive.
This. Jim Beam Black Label is my favorite drink, although I'm not much of a drinker so a bottle lasts me a looong time.

We need to bring back shame. No society can long prosper if people can openly and shamelessly admit mixing soft drinks with good bourbon. Even ice is wrong. Asking the best bourbon to mix with Coke should rightfully be in the same category as asking the best race of fourteen year old for a threesome with a farm animal.

I never thought to put it that way, but I agree 100% :^D

i guess its just a habit,i drink rum to and usually mix my rum with soft drinks and orange juice

on a unrelated note,i bought a pack of bud light mang-o-rita's today and i must say even though i hate cheap beer there actually pretty tasty, the only thing i dont like is the fact there only availible in 8 oz cans.would be nice if it was something at least as big as the cans they sell regular bud light in

If you actually mean bourbon whiskey, for that price point, Wild Turkey and Elijah Craig.

If you are ok with Tennessee whiskey, Jack Daniels Old #7 - to me - is much easier and tastier. And if you ever feel like splurging, Gentleman's Jack is even better.

jack daniels,i dont know.alot of the good sounding jack daniels usually(or at least according to there webpage)say something like this
The bottle will only be available in Tennessee and in select international markets

i guess it doesnt technically have to be bourbon though, ive drank irish whiskey before and liked it

I'm usually more of a scotch drinker, but a buddy of mine had some Bullit (sp?) that was downright awesomeness.

Have not kept up with this thread...wished I had, I knew mentioning the infamous Tennessee Whiskeys in a "bourbon" thread would be good for some lulz. Because, you know, that is such an important distinction to be made in a thread about cheap booze to mix with Coke.

Eagerly awaiting a single malt discussion thread.

I enjoy Bulliet. I also got a 1.5 liter bottle of some bourbon at Costco for $20 that isn't too shabby either. Definitely good for bourbon cocktails.
