Anyone else disappointed with BF3?

It's even worse when you try and use a stinger on a tank, I had to ask how to do it and a few people LOL'd me .. only on air vehicles apparently.

Haha, yeah. I wonder if in real life it'd even be possible to hit a tank with a stinger, I would think that it would at least be somewhat feasible at close range, but perhaps the targeting doesn't work right or something. Eng might be overpowered if the stingers worked well on both aircraft and tanks though

Love the game when it works right performance wise.

Tons of morons in the game i swear they switched from COD or something...true bf2 vet wouldn't crash a copter the moment it goes up in the air and tons of campers compared to a any fps i've played in a while .

Still has some glitchs like the bad luck one i was up in the air with some pilot and boom my copter just blows up for no particular reason LOL....right in our base too .

You hit the nail on the head iv'e seen all this crap too but the stupids usually take the tanks without waiting a min for a possibly mg gunner or gunner in a pilot...i would run up to a guy in a copter as he is preparing for take off and off he goes..the slow reload of the maingun of a tank is so slow i bet the rpg guys reload faster then you and without a mg gunner your screwed a lot of times.

As a tank driver, I always take the LMG for my secondary weapon because no one seems to paint targets so I can use a guided shell. That LMG kills infantry 100x more then the cannon does for me cause of the horrible splash damage from the cannon shell.

It always makes me shake my head when I see someone flying either a jet or heli at the start of a map and jumps out of it over a capture point.

I really wish there was more ways for people to paint a target, because as it is now, no one does and because of that no one takes guided shells. I'll do the CITV seat in a tank and lock on to targets but nothing. Only time they are used it seems if it some players are all working together.

Hopefully when MW3 comes out the idiots will be flushed out and people that want teamwork will be what is left.

You need to remember that hardly anyone has any of that stuff unlocked right now. I mean I'm level 37 and I only just unlocked the SOFLAM. Which I immediatly discovered no one uses your targeting info so it's useless at the moment. I would wager probably 90% of the people playing the game have no unlocked any of the guided missile stuff.

I doubt MW3 will flush idiots out BF3 has made this game a bit more COD friendly ..vehicle regen,prone which enables camping up on noob friendly maps like metro which are as close as cod as BF3 will ever get..the fantastic detail in the game really allows any cod camper to prone up in a bush or behind a rock...

Prone i feared since i heard the rumor's cause a camper just has to lay in some remote building in prone ready to fire at anything coming that way or pass..metro is a prime example with prone being used more for statistic reasons then anything else....

I just started this the other day, I've gotten supposedly a bunch of tank unlocks, but how do I select them for use? I can't right click and use LMG in my tank, or the faster shells, etc.

If you have them already selected in the customize menu, then for the LMG on the tank you have to hit 2. That will switch your gun to it and just hit 1 to switch back to the cannon, it is great to spot the target, shoot the cannon, switch to LMG and take out the guy if you didn't already, and if you still haven't and they got into cover the cannon is loaded again from the time you spent shooting the LMG.

A lot of the tank unlocks are passive, like the faster shell loading and stuff, you just have to have it selected in your customization menu.

Was that on PC? Why not use Fraps or MSI Afterburner (free)?

And you know whats dissappointing? Punk mfers using heavy machines with grip and IRNV hiding in shadows. Ran into a server where half the team was doing it in conquest. We won, but the game sucked. If BF is going to turn into this I might as well play COD.

That's how real Battlefield games have always been, large maps, nothing new. Plus in that video he gets to kill someone so yea......

I'm not sure what so bad about that video. Battlefield is about slow methodical pacing. The part where he got shot at and he took cover and still had bullets and RPG's flying over him? Cool, he got to kill someone running around, but him sticking his head out got him killed.

The slow pacing is what makes the game so good.

perhaps you need to change your play style. i don't have that issue. This isnt UT btw. You don't really need to go around like mad to kill people, your missing the main goals.

i often get tons of points just by running a HumV from flag to flag, i never have trouble finding a gunner and its fast and manueverable enough to outdrive tanks, infantry..etc. I can drive it most all terrain, yet its the least used vehicle it seems. and most anyone i've seen made for a decent enough gunner to rack up some kills.

It never takes me long to capture all the checkpoints that way, then i have to patrol until another gets neutralized. Of course conquest is most of hwat i play, i don't think i ever came across a team DM server and i really, really hate rush.

I've got two gripes with the game:

1. VoIP in a game like this is absolutely essential, and the PC version of the game does a terrible job of linking squads together. I can only hope they do a massive patch in this area.

2. Vehicles seem fairly pointless in the games I've played - there's just too much cover that infantry can use to avoid death, and the splash damage afforded the vehicles isn't great enough to negate that. Maybe some weapon rebalancing can help in this regard.

The multiplayer is NOTHING like CoD. And I should note I have played a LOT of CoD (Although on 360, not PC). The gameplay and feel of the game itself is extremely different. Probably due to the couple of maps that are nearly pointless, Operation Metro and that one with the two sides seperated by that tunnel setup, where you spawn, go to the choke point, lop grenades/shoot rpgs for most of the round, as venturing in is instant death due to a bunch of campers on the other side. Those kinds of maps were nowhere to be found in BF1942, BF2, etc.

But yeah, overall I agree.

Oh I am not going to deny that Metro sucks, both for rush and conquest. Thankfully most servers dont have it on rotation.

When I think to myself its like COD its when you start having the majority of players hiding in a spot thats not related to the objective, using every cheap trick in the book, just to get a kill. Like those aholes in a football game that blindside people on the other end of the play when the play its just about over so they can get a hit and celebrate. I can understand camping an objective or routes. But there are times when people camp the most random hole in the wall spots...its just a "Really bro?" moment. I dont mind the emphasis on CQ gunplay, but fight me like a man dammit! :biggrin:

Not saying its rational, but it is what it is to me. Its possible they heard my freakin team radio, footsteps or something and hunkered down, but the last time I played COD thats all the game was. Someone hiding in a random corner in a shadow, and non stop killstreaks.

You can tell by looking at their loadout in the killcam. M240, IRNV, Extended ammo...COD bitch! M240, scope, extended ammo...COD bitch! SCAR...COD bitch! Although people probably say that about me when I rush with shotguns..."go back to COD you shotgun bitch!" lol
