Even the crappy ones from back in the day are miles ahead of the ADD cartoons of today that look like they were drawn by a 5 year old.

I remember watching Tom & Jerry Kids when I was a wee one. Don't recall any of the old shorts though. However, I did used to watch Loony Toons religiously. They were on every Saturday and Sunday at 5pm. I still love them. I really need to get the Bluray box set.

I went to a Northwood Hills Elementary in Dallas. Our recess was spent outside. But, if it rained we would have to be inside. That usually meant watching cartoons. One thing that I've never enjoyed was the utter violence that was Tom & Jerry. It wasn't even funny. I never laughed at it and wondered why this kids show was so violent and why others were laughing. It would also be racist, too, but I don't think we got much of those. But all I remember was the violence. There were other cartoons that I watched at home that were much better (Pink Panther, Heathcliff, Transformers, GI Joe, etc...) but I never understood the wanton violence that was Tom & Jerry.

Anyone else feel this way?

Tom and Jerry was the very best cartoon.
Looney Tunes would be my 2nd favorite as a child. Especially The roadrunner and coyote. But, I wanted the coyote to catch that bastard road runner every episode.

This is why Tom and Jerry was so good, Tom would actually catch Jerry some of the time...

Pink Panther and GI Joe didn't hold my attention.
Heathcliff I didn't care too much for.

Back in the day (I was too old by then) Nickelodeon used to run bizarre French cartoons all day long. No violence, mostly mewing kittens and European weirdo animals. I think that if I had been on opiates, pot, and in a fever dream it would have made good TV. Violent cartoons aren't so bad when you compare to non-violent cartoons.

I love Tom and Jerry! My favorite was when Tom got a female cat pregnant. Jerry poisoned her milk to make her "unpregnant". It all backfired on Jerry though because Tom didn't want kittens anyway!
I must have laughed for days...

Tom & Jerry - it gets old fast.
Wile E Coyote vs. Road Runner was probably more violent, and much funnier. It was a new invention back firing every 3 minutes. And not only did they backfire, but sometimes they backfired twice, or three times. Plus, it draws you in - you know how the coyote is going to get injured, them bamm. A truck comes along. "Didn't see that coming" you think to yourself, just in time for bamm, your original thought happens afterward unexpectedly.
