Anyone else disgusted with some childhood cartoons?

I never liked Tom and Jerry because it was never funny.

I loved Tom & Jerry as a kid, but it can get a little monotonous. The important thing is to not watch any episodes that came out after the late 50s or so. I still get warm nostalgic fuzzies every time I watch the Mouse in Manhattan episode. :wub:

I love Tom and Jerry! My favorite was when Tom got a female cat pregnant. Jerry poisoned her milk to make her "unpregnant". It all backfired on Jerry though because Tom didn't want kittens anyway!

A lot of those 80s cartoons were pretty pathetic tbh. A bazillion flying laser beams on the screen, but almost no one ever gets hit.

If you guys recall, no one was ever shot in GI Joe. all of those guys were worse than storm troopers. They always fought each other off by hitting the general area with their quasi-laser beams.

Growing up in the late 60's-early 70's, I was a Bugs Bunny fanatic. I never got those old timey WWII refernces like "It ain't Wendell Wilkie!" And the gremlins on the bombers, but I found them funny as hell just the same. I was also into the Flintstones, because living in NYC, the Honeymooners was a staple on tv, even for kids. But the violence, oh God, the glorious violence. Many hammers to heads, shotguns to the face and rock smashings.

My 8 year old boy has just discovered these gems on Nick. He was laughing hysterically the other day with "Wabbit season!" "Duck season!" And the inevitable shotgun to the face results. "You're dessssspicable!" Even I, at 50, still laugh at these comic acts of violence.

Disgusted? No. OP might need to change his tampon soon.

Back in the day (I was too old by then) Nickelodeon used to run bizarre French cartoons all day long. No violence, mostly mewing kittens and European weirdo animals. I think that if I had been on opiates, pot, and in a fever dream it would have made good TV. Violent cartoons aren't so bad when you compare to non-violent cartoons.

Oggy and the Cockroaches is the modern day Tom & Jerry.

I'll admit, I had to go and look up catamite. And it leads me right back to a conversation I had with someone earlier this morning: I have absolutely no idea what AT's obsession is with anal.

It's mostly a bunch of dudes. What else are we gonna do?

No mention of Ren and Stimpy yet? I am disappointed. Maybe not violent like blowing stuff up, but a good amount of smacking around. I think if you have an issue with violence in cartoons, you might have an issue with Ren and Stimpy :O

They have it on prime. And yes, I consider it to be one of the greatest cartoons ever created.

Also lots of bombs and missiles that exploded and didn't kill anyone. Every helicopter or plane going up in a ball of flames from a direct hit still had a guy in a parachute getting out.
