<< He won the election already, get over it!

I bet Bush will do what is best. But I also know that there will be those out there that will still say he did the wrong thing.
>>

I don't normally add anything to these types of threads. But, I did want to say something. There are so many people out there that will find fault in anything anyone does. If Bush had done what Snow wanted him to do he probably would have found something else to complain about. There are people that just aren't satisfied no matter what is done. I feel that Bush did the right thing. If we thought things were chaotic the way it happened, how much more so would things have come unraveled had we lost our president? Agree with what he did or not, he is still our president. He has to act on the behalf of a whole nation, not just the whim of a few people or what he alone wants to do.

Just my $.02

<< So it is trolling to express a legitimate opinion? You people kill me. You're too ignorant to know that you are in fact ignorant. The President failed in his duty. Anyone who believes otherwise might as well join the US military. It is there that unquestioned loyalty and outright stupidity are positive character traits.

<< all you are looking for is a flame war >>

No, all I am looking for are some intelligent replies. Unfortunately, this seems to be beyond most of the children here at ATOT.
>>

i don't understand snow. you keep calling most of us ignorant but instead of reinforcing your arguments, you attack the individuals. That's usually a sign of someone who has no clue about what he's talking about. Bush has been great up to this point. You keep going around the point of, what good would it do if our president is dead. You say the only danger was from jetliners and such. How do you know there weren't any snipers or perhaps something else around the whitehouse? You have to remember, these guys were willing to die for their cause. They're not going to care about being caught or killed. Also you say any jetliner or other plane would be shot down before it even reached the whitehouse. Where do you think the wreckage of the plane is going to land? Do you think its just going to fly away or disintegrate? I surely hope you aren't that stupid. From your comments so far, I'd be more inclined to think you were a child here instead my friend. I am glad though you're not missing the main issue at hand. That being the people who lost their lives and the families who lost their mothers/fathers/brothers/sisters/etc.

<< We should back him fully (Bush that is). There are certain procedures in place that need to be followed to protect our President. What if he did rush back to the White House to conduct business there instead of the secure bunker they had him in and that downed plane actually was headed for the white house and hit it? We would be with out a leader and look very weak to the world. We must stand in unity politicaly, there is will be plenty of time for us to get back to our petty Rep/Dem/Lib bickering when this is all over.

Just my thoughts,

--bill
>>

Think of this - if the president had been in the White House and that plane which departed Dulles Airport had, instead of hitting the Pentagon, gone directly toward and hit the White House, the president would probably be dead right now - the former president, that is. In fact, that may be where the 4th plane was headed. I wonder why they (the plane that took off from Dulles) didn't head for the White House. Maybe they sensed (the planners of this) that to take out the White House would have so insensed this nation that the retaliatory events would have been devestating. Personally, I hope the US virtually takes over the middle east. I think it will/would be to EVERYONE'S benefit, long term and short term. The US should have deposed (at the very least) Saddam Hussein when they had the easiest time of it, when the Gulf War was won. Now it will be tougher, but it may be what is required. And, of course, Bin Laden should have been taken out long ago. Just my opinions, but I (who am not normally hawkish) feel strongly this way now.

AFA what Bush did - the NSC (National Security Council) has plans and measures in place in the event of such occurrences as we have just seen. They declared a Delta alert, and they followed prescribed courses of action. I don't think it sensible to deconstruct those events at this time.

Snow- you have no valid "point"

The only thing you have is an opinion just like everyone else.

My questions to you are:

What needs to happen to us in order to galvanize our nation and support our President? Was not an attack on innocent people in NY and Washington enough for you? do terrorists need to detonate nuclear weapons in order for you (and people like you) to support our governement and those who run it? Why is it that you feel you need to inflame the situation and turn fellow americans against one another?

It is sad that people in this country (ALA Mr. Snow) still cannot see past there differences and lay down their support for our governement at a time like this. I know you say you still support your president but lashing out like this is not really showing support is it?

I guess I should be thankful that you, at the very least, take an interest in these matters.....but lower your level of ignorance and open your eyes to yesterdays events.......be thankful that the worst for us in this country is seemingly over and move on.

Yer Full of it..... If he had died than there would be instant panic & Riots..... He did the right thing by staying out of the fray. What good would he have done anyway if he was in DC. add to the confusion with more people trying to protect him instead of helping with the injured... Your a fvcking Moron...

God this is pointless, arguing with Snow's pathetic level of intelligence makes my head hurt. He posts his drivel "Bush is a disgrace, Bush should have overridden the Sevret Service and flown straight to DC to make a speach, instead of listening to his advisors and making a speach from an air force base." and then answer every reply with an insult.

You know, forget it everyone - there is no sense in lowering yourself to his level, as he honestly cannot see his own stupidity.

I for one can no longer be bothered trying to explain to a person with the logical and intellectual skills of a child why we make sure our leaders are kept out of harm's way while they do thier jobs, rather than using them to "look good". How a President actually cannot override the Secret Service's ability to protect him against a direct threat.

The sad part is he is convinced he's the smart one and everyone else is stupid.

There is no arguing with anyone in that frame of mind, as they will never listen.

Snow, I have read a LOT of intelligent replies as to why the President would not, should not, could not or did not return to DC. The only thing I have read from you is your legitimate opinion. I think the logical replies overwhelmingly outnumber your legitimate opinion.

Well, I guess might makes right. If you truly believe that then you really should reexamine your ideals.

<< The above is the opinion of the author and is probably, at best, pure drivel >>

Optimus, you said it not me. As to my level of intelligence, it's in the top 3% in the world. Flame away, I can take it.

OK so move to the south pole where there is no government to complain about and there is no internet access. Solved your problem right there. Anyone want to help him move?

You think we live in a democracy? LOL. Where are you? Wake up. The beauty of a democracy is unknown to the good old USofA. Mob Rule has never been and never will be right.

Humor. You see, unlike you I don't proclaim myself the undesputed king of knowledge, and ridicule everyone else as beneath me. So I can poke a little fun at myself.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my God you're killing me!

Thats the most pathetic response I've EVER heard.

"Oh yeah, well I have an 8 inch penis! So there!"

Look! An unverifiable claim of third party acknowledgment of his genious! We must all shut up in his glorious presence!

Hahahahahahaha - Good Lord man, you're a riot.

Oh my... that was the funniest, yet most pathetic thing I've ever seen on Anandtech...

No one said anything about mob rule (except you). We live in a land where in a public forum, majority rules, whether it is in an election, or a trial. This is not a dictatorship. Majority does rule.

BTW, If I didn't think that your "stand" against everyone (and common sense) was merely a pathetic cry for attention from Mommy's basement, I might have thought you really had a pair insulting EVERYONE like you love to do...

Nitemare said : Take your Gore loving as$ out of the country because you are not an American.

Tripleshot replied : You seem to want to take away his right to speak his mind and voice his concern, and you have decided anyone who voted for Gore is not an American.

That's the biggest stretch of words I've ever read here.

wrt Snow,

Snow said : That's exactly the point. He wasn't there when we needed him. After the fact, I could care less. What, he lets everyone die and then rolls out from his bunker to let us know he's all right and he feels bad. That's pathetic.

then later says : You're too ignorant to know that you are in fact ignorant.

Are you claiming that the President could have changed the outcome of this midway through the morning if he woulda walked the streets and sung Amazing Grace? You are just sending flamebait. Explain again how the president "failed". So far you only make references to him not being a "symbol of strenght" and that he was not "there" for you. The guy spoke 3 times during the day wherever he was, the first two were timely the third was the evening address to the nation which every news commentator I heard thought was a strong message to the terrorists and to countries that harbor them.

My belief is that you are predisposed in thinking that Bush didn't so something he shoulda done so none of this will change your mind anyway, but your entire argument of Bush failing seems to be because he didn't make you "feel good". His job is to lead the country... which consists of many things. Making "Snow from forums.anandtech.com" feel good is way way low on the list.

Sorry guys but I think Mr. Snow is picking and choosing his responses in order to incite us in a negative manner. He is doing nothing but trolling and he obviously has no intention of taking part in any intelligent debate..... I think it is time to let this thread die.

Any response to my questions above mr snow?

Or are you just some jaded student out here in Cali with no grasp of real life?

<< After watching all the events unfolding today I was quite struck by the cowardice of our commander-in-chief. As millions of New Yorkers and people around the DC area feared for there lives, where was our President? As Mayor Giuliani, Governor Pitacki, and members of the House and Senate rushed to the scenes of the attacks and were visible to comfort the nation, the President was running with his tail between his legs to Omaha. >>

I was also shocked by the coward that our president is . He is a shame for country, I am embarassed to have voted for him. Anybody who thinks he has done a good job is either lying to themselves or has never witnessed true leadership. The question for conservatives to ask is how would Reagan handle this or Bush Sr? With heck of a lot more courage than this. His job is to serve the people, he failed that miserably. And this is not a conservative liberal issue. Hundreds of conservatives and hundreds of liberals could have brought honor and courage to our presidency. Anybody who is pleased with his performance expects too little I am truly sickened by Bush. I believe Bush Sr would have handled this with a lot more courage. That's all I have to say about it.
