They were kind of the reason the bill didn't pass.....

Not that the bill was any good, that's a different point
Didn't pass? It wasn't even called to vote! The GoP pulled it before the Dems uttered a single vote. And complaining about the minority party killing a bill in the House just speaks to the incompetence of the majority party pushing the legislation. It seems to me that if getting a bill to pass the house when your own party holds the majority is this difficult, then the chances of it clearing the Senate is basically mathematically insignificant.

Both sides contribute to this not being passed. Either way it's a piece of shit IMO so any point is moot.

It's sad that GOP didn't get to screw their own supporters on this (yet). But I am sure they will find other ways.

I wouldn't call this a "huge win" for Trump, or any sort of win. That's a big stretch. Trump has had a chain of failures since taking office. This is terrible for his already poor public image.

Perhaps it would have been worse for the GOP had the bill passed. Hard to say. They were going to put off gutting Medicaid until 2020 to avoid the worst consequences until after the mid terms.

Bottom line here is, Trump and the GOP lose either way.

Gotta love the fear mongering by the right. "Obamacare is going to implode", "it's in a death spiral", "it's going to fail soon".

I love how trump is complaining about how no Democrats didn't vote for it and it failed because of them, all while forgetting that the dems got the ACA past with zero Republican support.

Lol what a fucking loser.

I must have heard at least 10 Repub legislators cough up those ominous predictions over the last few days on the TV, and every time I heard them I chuckled a bit and threw something harmless at the screen. My wife lol'd every time.

These Repubs got themselves into this mess all on their own, and it sure is fun watching them make asses of themselves in their lame attempts at blaming the "others" for their incompetence and lack of foresight.

It's a loss from a PR POV no doubt. Would have been an even bigger loss if the bill was actually voted on and failed. The reaction will fizzle though until the public moves on to something else.

The GOP has multiple factions and is a mess? News at 10. (They still manage to win elections, though. ??)

As far as consequences go, what do you expect will come from leaving in the ACA as opposed to passing a bill that is widely considered worse and highly unpopular?

Hard to say. Depends if voters want to blame Obama and the dems for originally passing it or the GOP for being in charge and failing to pass a viable replacement bill, then failing to even negotiate with dems to fix the ACA. I think the blame usually goes to whoever is in power. Historically that is how voters allocate blame.

Rut Roh!

http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/24/politics/jared-kushner-aspen-ski-trip-obamacare/index.html

one person remained notably absent for most of the week: Jared Kushner.

Along with this wife, Ivanka Trump, another key cog in the president's inner circle, Kushner was on vacation until Thursday, skiing with family in the posh Colorado town of Aspen. Paparazzi caught Jared and Ivanka taking leisurely strolls, enjoying ice cream cones with their three kids and winding their way down the slopes.
Meanwhile, back in Washington, Trump was fuming. According to a source close to the president, "[Trump] is upset that his son-in-law and senior adviser was not around during this crucial week." Kushner did appear at the White House on Friday during the last gasps of the Obamacare repeal effort.

It's good to see Drumpf reaching out to the Dems, even in his juvenile way. Yes, Obamacare is here to stay, and it will need fixing, and he can finally do it the right way, in a bipartisan way.

The only comfort I've taken from this attempt to destroy a safety net for Americans is observing how the part of the fuck you party that wanted to fuck the average American was stymied in that effort by the part of the fuck you party that wasn't happy the fuck you wasn't hard enough saving us all from one UUUUGE fuck you, at least so far.

You guys are all fools for laughing at this incompetent attempt (and failure) to pass a terrible bill because this is actually the best possible thing that could've happened for Trump. If it had passed, within months every congressman who signed the bill would have mobs with knives and pitch forks outside their offices. They would've lost the house 100% for sure if they had passed it. Instead, we get to all keep our healthcare (which is nice) but there is no real consequence for republicans who have constantly supported gutting their own safety nets. The GOP congress looks incompetent, but guess what? Everybody who payed attention already knew they were incompetent, and competence isn't what gets these republican congressman elected anyway. They get elected for their insane views.

Yes, Trump does look like a failure.... but that's nothing new. The people who think he's awesome will continue to think he's awesome while benefiting from the Obamacare safety net they just attempted to cut out from under all of us. So, in the end, this is a huge win for Trump. I am deeply saddened that this bill did not pass, because combined with Rep. Nunes daily speeches about his investigation into leaks this tells me Trump is here to stay until 2018 AT LEAST.
This is all pretty much right. This was the best possible outcome for Trump. We already see them blaming Democrats. Even someonesfuckingmind in this very thread is saying Dems are equally responsible, lol.

Good riddance...and the President's political capital is crumbling and stale like an Atlantic City casino. Ryan can go choke on some White House meatloaf for all I care.

Why the fuck does his presence matter? Like congress would have got in line if he was here? People are so stupid.

He wasn't there to cajole Donald and make him feel good after the mean Dems and Freedumb caucus guys were mean to him.
Even Nancy Pelosi gave him and Ryan an offer to help them learn to count & expect their members to show up to vote.
