I'm well past that point. It's surreal to me to see Paul Ryan and Donald Trump publicly talking about the implications for the GOP in 2018 as a result of passing or not passing this bill when health care for millions of people hang in the balance.
Millions of people voted for Trump when it was fairly obvious he's a dumb angry monster and also horribly unqualified.
So yes, I honestly believe those same people will actually have a dilemma over whether to reelect their representatives or senators.

I'd enjoy it if the stakes weren't so high. Like vi_edit, my family does not depend on ACA, but many others do and they will be screwed. So I just feel sadness, sadness that as a country we deliberately chose this path, sadness for the changes to come and the people it will affect, especially those who did not vote for this.

I'm just shaking my head in disbelief at the circus that is unfolding before our eyes.

What Republicans should do is say, we don't have the 60 votes in the Senate to fully repeal Obamacare or pass what we think is the right replacement. Instead of passing a Frankenstein bill through reconciliation, we will put things on ice, present our full health care vision, and let the voters decide in 2018 if they want to elect a filibuster proof Republican Senate to implement this vision, or if they want to stay with the status quo.

There's a piece of me that hopes it passes, all of the horror comes to be and people finally get the fucking clue that elections have consequences. Then maybe in 2020 we can pull our collective heads out of our asses and vote in a group of politicians that actually give a shit about helping this country and we can make some real progress.

But at this point...whatever. People get what they deserved. I'll be fine. My family will be fine. I'm done trying to be rational.

Exactly.

I love those interviews with the Trump supporters who are currently enrolled in Obamacare. The ones CNN interviewed have long standing illnesses and depend on Obamacare for their doctor visits and meds. Yet, they all voted for Trump because they disliked Hillary.

Good then. When your health coverage is taken away don't bitch.

Memo from the Repub lackeys of right wing billionaires to all of America's wage slave suckahs:

Worried that you won't be able to afford health insurance? Your worries will soon be over because you'll just be screwed! That's right! We're giving you the high hard one!

It's yuge! You'll love it, believe me!

The good news is that you'll have more money to spend on other stuff, so we're raising the rent!

Enjoy the Freedumb!

Then in 2022 or 2024 they'll complain about the WAY the politicians are fixing the colossal screw-up (like they did with Obama), and go back to electing crackpots. Back and forth ad-infinitum.

It is fairly entertaining, but then so was the Trump candidacy :|
At some point the real world consequences outweigh the entertainment value.

This.

I am still concerned the 2018 open enrollment is going to be a disaster and people are going to get screwed. Even from a selfish POV, I cannot assume my family will be immune to it.

I get no amusement out of this fiasco whatsover-but I'm self employed and on ACA. Fortunately, unless Paul Ryan gets his way on extending Medicare and SS eligibility out another two years, I won't have to personally worry about the 2018 rollout of Trumpcare aka Ryancare.

As an aside, you can tell the White House is worried about the bill when they try to persuade everyone to call it Ryancare. When else has The Donald ever been shy about putting his name on anything?

It really is getting entertaining. Trump won't own it and is blaming his supposed party for coming up with this turkey. Why oh why can't they come up with a bill that fills all my promises? Why is this soo complicated? So much fun watching circular firing squads. I think I will get a case of some Homestyle.

Anyone else enjoy the Repubs squirming on Obamacare replacement?

I think most people knew it was going to be difficult. In the previous 7 or 8 yrs the Repubs couldn't come to an agreement, no reason to think that would change magically upon election.

I understand that there are to be 3 phases of this legislation. I don't see much point in getting too excited about what phase #1 produces. And the Senate hasn't had a go at it yet.

You're just watching the 'sausage being made' at this point.

Oh, and I think the Dems should be a bit careful here. If the Repubs can't get it done this year another year of Obamacare may weigh heavily on their necks.

Healthcare is GOP's problem now, just like economy became Democrats' problem when Obama took office. People don't care about phase 1/2/3, filibuster, reconciliation, or whatever other sausage making BS. Politics is a check engine light, not an OBDII port. If there is something broken, the bums in power will be thrown out.

Yup I'm looking forward to:
Lower premiums by a large amount
Lower deductibles
Lower prescription costs
Keep or choose my Doctor
Simplified less paperwork
Coverage for all

Honestly I can't wait, I wish they'd roll it out. That what I've been hearing all along.

ACA weight heavily on Dems neck?

Trump has already said he doesn't care if they just let it fail, and the Con's having trying to fuck it up since it's inception.

Con's own it now. Let's see them make good on trumps promise. At this point it's not looking too good.

Ryan tried to make it sound good by basically explaining how insurance works

The fact that they won't even attempt to push Trump care through the Senate tells us exactly what their plan is

Just a small correction; Ryan tried to explain how he thinks insurance works (that is, he doesn't understand how it works).

They had seven fucking years. The amount of procrastination is mind blowing.
like I said in my OP, easy to pander to your base with no work involved since the Repubs didn't see regaining the Whitehouse as a realistic possibility.
then boom.. Trumpf!

I heard him say otherwise.

Problem is we've all heard him say nearly everything. Trump is the ultimate pandering machine. I still don't know his position on abortion he literally covered every possible position a over a 5 day period.

Repubs' big problem is that the ACA actually delivers, if imperfectly. That's despite their best efforts to the contrary. Dems won't have any trouble wearing it, certainly not next to the clown outfits donned by the Repubs.

Just poking in on this. It seemed to me that the Repubs had been in lock-step ever since 2010, as their state governors refused to participate in ACA. They were bent on making it a failure, just as they were bent on making Obama a failure.

Someone else can expand on that as a possible reason for the disintegrating markets.

But let me look at this another way. With different people and the opposition party in charge, if it were failing as they say it is, they would've fixed it. They had been talking about "fixing it" for the last several years.

But the GOP in congress would have none of that, either.
