for years, they've been harping about replacing Obamacare.

it was an easy feel good pander to their voters because they never thought there'd be a time in the near future that they'd actually have to come up with a plan and actually do it.

come on.. Trump as the Repub's presidential candidate?
EASY 4 more years to harping about replacing Obamacare, they thought.

oh shit.. Trumpf won?!
we actually have to come up with a plan?
GULP!

also, see the addition to my signature about Trumpf

Update (3/15):
TrumpCare plan in peril:
http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/14/politics/moderate-republicans-health-care/index.html

it doesn't have votes to pass the Senate.

Update 3/17:
President Trump says health care bill will be changed to shore up GOP support as House leaders plan Thursday vote

It is fairly entertaining, but then so was the Trump candidacy :|
At some point the real world consequences outweigh the entertainment value.

I'm well past that point. It's surreal to me to see Paul Ryan and Donald Trump publicly talking about the implications for the GOP in 2018 as a result of passing or not passing this bill when health care for millions of people hang in the balance.

It's easy to yell and scream about shit on the sidelines like children, actually governing is HARD, as the GOP is finding out.

The GOP doesn't give a crap about healthcare. They never have. They're cutting Medicaid for the poor so that they can cut taxes for the wealthy. Nothing new here. Being reminded of it is a bit depressing though.

I think there's some value in making your public facing statements about the public and not "Jesus guys, you're going to end up costing us seats"

Especially when the issue is as serious as health care.

But yeah, I agree that the Ryan's agenda is to basically dissolve the federal government is a bath of acid in service of tax cuts for the wealthy.

What do people think are their chances of getting it through? With the way the CBO scored it, I think they'll have more trouble getting it through the Senate than the House. The political calculus of voting no doesn't make sense for the tea partiers in the House.

The writing has been on the wall for a while now, but we were so distracted by Trump's antics that we forgot about the Tea Party. Remember back when they shut down the government over a fight they were never going to win and then a couple of years later celebrated as they drove Boehner out of Washington?

I am a bit surprised at Republican resistance in the Senate and from some of the governors coming from the other side, though. Paul Ryan is caught in the middle, but I have zero sympathy for him since he's such a huge liar.

I am enjoying it a bit, but I'm also tired of dysfunctional government. There are long-term problems in this country that need to be addressed, in healthcare and many other places.

I don't know. It seems simultaneously inevitable that it will pass, and that it will fail. I can't even articulate why right now. It just does. There are so many things that seem at once impossible and inevitable. My advice, and it's hard enough to do this myself, is to take things on in a straightforward manner. This is the bill before congress. It's a bad bill, it needs to be opposed. Oppose it.

Sure, but us mere mortals can't really do anything about it. We can only try to predict the outcome.

Anyone else enjoy the Dems not squirming on Obamacare? Me neither. You would have to be a lunatic to think either Obamacare or this "repeal and replace" bullshit is/was a good idea.

Tell it to the tens of millions of Americans that Repubs intend to fuck over. You know, the people that the ACA actually helps.

Billionaires obviously need tax cuts more than working people need healthcare. They're just a disposable commodity. Everybody in the true Bush constituency believes that to be true.

Wow, I'd say that the thousands of people that flooded town hall meetings during the recess were visible evidence that people still have power in this republic, and I think it would be a terrible mistake to sit around wait for the next thing this administration is going to do to you.

I don't enjoy it at all. What Trump and others do in their own world but get grief for is entirely secondary to the harm they cause. While I did not want Obamacare for a number of reasons it did provide coverage for those who would not have it otherwise. Making things worse isn't an option I can get behind and seeing egg on the face of politicians is small comfort.

Sad that I can cheaper and adequate care in a developing country like Thailand. In America? Would cost be an arm and a leg without healthcare.

Many see Americans rely on Medicaid. Many are Republicans as well. It's an easy target I guess.

Because agree or disagree with the plan the ACA was all about improving healthcare. Trumpcare is all about placating their base and votes.

The funniest thing I've heard about this is Trump saying "I didn't know this shit was this hard"

Why is he the only one who didn't??

There's a piece of me that hopes it passes, all of the horror comes to be and people finally get the fucking clue that elections have consequences. Then maybe in 2020 we can pull our collective heads out of our asses and vote in a group of politicians that actually give a shit about helping this country and we can make some real progress.

But at this point...whatever. People get what they deserved. I'll be fine. My family will be fine. I'm done trying to be rational.

Well to be honest the Democrats understood that coverage was hard and Trump wasn't that far along. Health care proper? Heck I don't think DC as a whole understands that at all.
