I'm looking forward to the improved notifications screen. But to be frank, this entire update feels like Apple playing catch up some more. For people who only have an iPhone as I do and no longer take part in the Apple ecosystem, a lot of what they announced won't really change anything on my end. Not about to start using iCloud. I already have a universal clipboard, it's called OneNote. My wife and I will get bored of playing with the new toys in imessage in one evening I'm sure. But the notifications and lock screen look like a solid improvement.
I am, though deleting unused stock apps is more a nicety than a must-have for me.
The biggest deals to me are the nuts-and-bolts additions: support for controlling third-party apps through Siri and the ability to expand and act on lock screen notifications. There's suddenly a good reason to use 3D Touch. Personally, I'm hoping that the expanded Siri leads to more Apple Watch apps. I've been dying for the chance to control Sonos from my watch -- this would make it more realistic ("hey Siri, get Sonos to play music in my living room").
I am excited for iOS 10. Hope Apple puts out a worthwhile iPhone to go with it this year.
I hope the rumors of a 'dark mode' finally come to fruition !! (im sure they won't though )
It makes plenty of sense right now for people that use phones in the dark.
Can't see that deleting a few unused apps is going to make much of a difference; by all accounts it only saves about 100-150mb which isn't really a lot in the grand scheme of things. Plus at the moment, deleting apps simply breaks some functionality.
I'm definitely excited for iOS 10. I can't say there's any one thing that excites me more than another, I'll reserve judgement of that until I get a chance to try it. It just further cements how much further ahead Apple is of the competition. Google really really need to start properly controlling Android the way Apple does with iOS.
im excited that imessage is going to look like a late 1990s geocities page
I've gotta ask, why do you think the improved Siri may lead to more apple watch apps? That would be great because I'm a current apple watch owner but it does seem to feel like it can be improved. Do you think we could see more apps or would they wait to release this on a new version of the watch?
Ahead how?
I'd say there are a few areas where iOS 10 is ahead (on-device face/object recognition, home automation, some of the actionable notifications and built-in messaging), but yeah... this is hyperbolic.
I may use Apple gear as a matter of course, but the "Apple is always the best" view bugs me just as much as those people who yearn for a total, eternal Android monopoly. Stay humble about your platform of choice and you'll have healthier attitudes toward both technology and yourself.
