Mine was $350 last month 2k square feet I'm about to put down a white roof coating. I don't know why somebody would build a house in the south with dark colored shingles; it's fucking stupid.

Bill I just got a few days ago was around $142. It has been pretty darn hot here in Charlotte, NC. This is for a 1400sqft townhome. I try to set the thermostat at 82 when my roommate and I are at work and drop it to 76 when we are here.

I keep threatening to paint my charcoal-gray roof tiles white...

Even though we don't have a HOA, I'm sure some of my neighbors would be sure to point out the CC&R in the deed that prohibits such a thing...and take me to court to force me to fix it...

So glad I don't live somewhere with a HOA. My neighbors won't do shit cause their driveways encroach on my property and i could legally go out with a jack hammer and bust them up if they wanted to be difficult about it. Still, I feel for anybody that lives in the iron grip of a HOA. I get along with my neighbors really well and they're not the petty people type who would bust my chops about the color of my roof.

Last bill was $57 with all the damn taxes and shit they throw in there. That's keeping the thermostat set at 80 during the day and 78 during the night.

Our gas bill for a 1,050 square foot apartment is 20 bucks for gas and then 106 for electricity. We have been shutting our AC off during the day now.

Just got my bill. $112 electricity, $15 gas -- 2,000 sqft + full basement. I can be happy with that. We keep the AC between 78F in the day (blinds shut) and 74F at night. July is usually my most expensive month and the Spring and Fall stretches totally make up for it, especially when the irrigation is shut off. We'll probably kill the AC and start opening the windows again towards the middle/end of August.

Overall, my bills are still cheaper than our 900 sqft complex apartment was.

First Energy electric bill arrived today .. It was $446
But those rats sent an Estimated Bill for last month at $88.xx
Don't know why they did that, as the electric meter is on the side of the house accessible at any time day or night. So presuming last months bill was too low, it is not too bad.

They send you estimates as its cheaper to just true-up your bill every quarter/6months/year than to send an actual meter-reader out to every house, every month. What's awesome is when they underestimate (which they always seem to do) then send you a "true-up" bill for 100s of dollars. I get one every January. It's awesome.

I understand that, but the meter is accessible. They are obligated to read it unless they can not get to it. And some newer meter can be read by a van going by, thru RF signals.

Our metres send signal back through the power line. We are on time-of-use scheme, so power is more expensive during business hours, weekday evening is the next tier and nights and weekends is the cheapest.

Cheap way for power company to dissuade users from using too much power on demand time. They also install remote control on you AC system if you let them and it will turn it down a few degrees during business hours if there is shortage issues.

My moms was two hundred and ninety dollars. I went over and replaced some lights and did a few things to funnel the AC up to just her bedroom, but I dunno how much money it will save. Next computer I get her will be a laptop. And one day I will replace her TV with a 32" LCD and built in bluray. She wont need anything else. OR......
If I could find a laptop with bluray.
:hmm:

My earlier guess of $300 was pretty close. The bill arrived this past week...$290.
