Here's my electric bill usage history. Notice how much hotter this July's meter was compared to last.

I was feeling pretty bad about mine, when I saw someone put up theirs in Alaska. I'm glad now.

Mine is $150 a month for a 1000 sqft 2bd/1 bath and I'm hardly ever here, nor do I run the ac more than twice a month.

I usually keep mine at 78, 75 when I go to bed and 85 when I am not there.

My last one was the equivalent of $48 so I'm not that worried. 800 sq ft apartment with heating and hot water (not that you need much of that now) included in the rent.

Only difference for this month is that I've had 1 to 3 floor fans at about 50W each running for most of the day and sometimes overnight too.

Last month was $170. I've got a 1100 sq ft single family home with pool. Last month my wife was home during the day so the AC was running. This month she's not so I'm expecting the bill to be cheaper even though it's warmer and more humid.

One of those times I appreciate living in a tiny 1/1 and have relatively high tolerance for heat. I am in Texas and my last electric bill was $23.01 and that includes a $6 customer charge.

Eh, coming in at just under $300. Thank God it's split among three people. (Of course, the fact that two of them can't deal with fans and need the A/C on constantly is part of the reason why it's $300.....)

It's never more than $100/mo here, even running AC full to keep it at 68-70. That's with a ton of electronics too.

I've been away for nearly all of July. Saw my bill today and it was 25 bucks, but my complex is picking up my utilities in august so the electric will probably be under 40 when I get the final bill. Kind of expensive when the only thing running is the fridge and hot water heater. Running the a/c, comp, ceiling fans, lights, and cooking equipment adds roughly 10-25 more a month. Usually I pay around 1.2-1.4 dollars a day for power.

I was loving last summer, I think we turned the AC on twice. This year its been like 3 weeks of 90+ during the day. Usually have the AC set to 72, I work at home so not much ability to turn the AC down during the day.
For june my bill was only $32, but that's because it was an estimated reading and they estimated rather low. This month's going ot be about $110. So had the actually read the meter it probably would have been more like $50 for June and $90 for July. Can't complain too much

Yet another point that makes the Pacific Northwest (if your Profile is accurate) so appealing. Darn you!

Yup. 50yr old house, 1700sq', very little energy efficient renovation, 2 hot water heaters (upstairs/downstairs), 3-9 computers (depending on servers running, laptops in use, etc), 2 fridges and a freezer, etc. We average about $85/mo over the year.

It is too bad that all your grandparents and great-grandparents died of heat exhaustion before their teen years. No one can live without AC. Even the Native Americans had AC in the Arizona and New Mexico deserts back pre-1900s. Those Apaches were pussies.

my bill due in july was $330.00 but since that was last months meter. ya, this next bill is likely to be a doozy, so to lighten the blow i paid an extra $120 this month.

The apt I live in is all inclusive, so I don't have any utility bills. Just my little rent payment. I have AC too.

$160 last month for the hell that is the summer here in Central Florida. My old HP keeps going and going and it looks like the house is well insulated.

in FLA mine was 245. my june bill was 255! used 2005 kWh @ 11.3¢ +tax
august / sept last year the cost was $175 and I remember it being hotter then.

2400 sqft home AC set to 73 (by 9am the house is at 76 finally gets back down to 73 by about 11pm) i suspect the HVAC is failing or needs a recharge. I don't like turning it off while at work, because the place gets so humid.

I think there are a lot of things I could do to save energy
- my garage soaks a lot of the AC for some reason (presumably no insulation between garage & main house), so I want to seal up all the outlets & light fixtures($)
- a bunch of my windows are fogging up now, so I think their seals may have blown during the tropical storms that rolled through last year ($$$$)
- need to get a better scheduler for my irrigation pump($$)
- need to plant some trees to shade more of the house($$$)
- should probably also adjust the powersaving features on my computers as they are the only things running 24/7(0)

It'll probably be around $200. The heat index has hit 125 quite a few times this month. Fortunately Tropical Storm Bonnie will keep us cool.

Not really... I have electric baseboard heat in my condo. It could be 110 outside every day, and my energy usage would still be half of what it is in winter!

Just got an A/C installed this week. Keeping it at a cool 23 and it's costing me about $1/day to run. Ontario hydro actually gives you a daily usage online including the cost of the electricity!
