I really have a bad feeling about the election this tuesday.

No matter if you are for Bush or Kerry .. This election could prove to be an embarrassmenrt for all of us.

I am voting for Bush but if he loses by even 1 vote, I hope that he just concedes ... same for Kerry. But what is the odds of that happening?

Seems like the US would have elections down pat by now being that we are suppouse to be setting the example for other free countries to follow.

The odds aren't too good when vote-counting is apparently so difficult to get right.

Edit - not a jab - it seems to be inaccurate in all countries.

I don't see how counting votes will ever be perfect .. I just don't think it is possible with 100+ million voters.

Someone will always be challenged by any method of voting.

There are always errors in vote counting all over the world. But when it's this close or like it was in 2000, either losing party is going to demand a recount and there are thousands of lawyers from both sides ready to go....afraid it may be decided by the courts.

If Bush wins, and it's not considered a "clean" victory then I'm pretty damned sure we'll see some incredible violence and rioting and protesting the likes of which have never been seen before. I think the dangers of reelecting Bush are immense, and simply not good for the health of our nation. What we need is a uniter not a divider. I'm not saying Kerry is the uniter, but he sure as hell won't divide this nation like Bush has.

I've heard a lot of folks talking about rise of the Militia's etc.

I don't know if they have the fire power or quantity of people to overcome the Federal repsonse they would encounter.

The States & The Feds have done a pretty good job of de-gunning John Q Public.

I think a "clear victory" is not probable at this point ... whomever the loser will be will most likely accurately claim that tens of thousands of votes were not counted.

There are already 1000's of lawyers involved ... any chance of a "clean victory" is now fully null and void.

(note, I am not sufficiently advanced in years to have any first-hand knowledge of Richard Nixon's presidency, so take this with a grain of salt.)

Its not the elections that bother me so much, should they be embarrasing--

Moreso, if the actual 4-year administration should turn out to be an embarrasement, as the Bush administration has.

That is the case we have before us. And should we re-elect them, that would be beyond embarrasing.

I don't think its going to be an embarasement at all, that implies someone feeling "sheepish" about the matter and that is sure as hell not going to happen. People have dug in their heels to the point that you would have to rip their feet off just to get them to budge.

If anything this election will no doubt serve as a catalyst and an impedus for change, either in the way our government conducts itself or in the relationship betwen socity and government. I would agree that if Bush wins again on questionable terms (imho the only way he could win considering the symetry of division in our society) than things may very well get real sh1tty in a hurry. No ones going to roll over and take the high road like 2000.

probably. Considering that Bush's job satisfaction percentages have declined steadily since 9/11, it'll get down right ugly if it continues
