I read one of the reviews on another site that this monitor does not support HDCP; that some movies cannot be seen on these monitors. The review mentioned that some copy protected content, such as Blu-ray movies and some cable TV shows cannot be seen on these monitors. Since most movies I watch are streaming, this is a slight concern.

The pixel pitch seems low compared with, lets say a 28" 1920x1200, so the text would appear a lot smaller. If someone were to read text for a long time, wouldn't this be more tiring?

I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

I read that as well, it was in the Techreport article. I also read that the monitor won't turn on/display anything until it's booted into windows yet 3-4 posts above there is a screenshot of BIOS.

I wish I could help you out but I'm still awaiting mine.

Read here on differences between Auria and Catleap: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1694047

You can score a Catleap for just <$300, Auria will set you back $430 at the register unless you grab it during back to school sales. Ultimately you decide how much the benefits of a local purchase are worth to you. I won't deny it, Catleaps are hot because of their price, much of the charm would be gone at a $430 price point.

I can find almost no info about the HDCP compatibility of the catleap monitors.

They do work at the BIOS. There's a whole thread on OCN and many people have confirmed. I suppose it may depend on your video card. I'll have mind either tomorrow or tuesday so I should be able to let everyone know how it works then.

Anyone figure out a profile for the monitors yet? I was using an iMac today with a 27'' screen at 1440p and it didnt have an OSD on the monitor either. Everything was setup through profiles on Apple's display utilities.

There are some profiles that some people post online using the Graphics card/Windows OS to calibrate...

Regarding Microcenter, I've read they are using A- grade panels just like the Korean ones but have multiple inputs and OSD (on screen display for calibration)... I'm using the Microcenter for awhile now and its been perfect = no blacklight bleed and no dead/stuck pixels...

Anyone else got contacted by the seller? I bought mine in the "bigclothcraft" ebay store. Just got emailed with 4 questions to achieve "smoothing pass against custom":
1. Whether to mark item is a gift?
2. Choose the amount on the item invoice?
3. Model of video card?
4. Check phone number and address for "express shipping service?

Debating what to answer but curious how "James" is unaware of FTA between USA ans S Korea.

He sends that to everyone and wont ship until he gets a response I think. A lot of countries pay high imporr fees so he tries to help there. Also to avoid people with video catds that wont work and have to return.

Congrats and thanks for the HDCP confirmation. I thought it'd be very strange to produce displays without HDCP in 2012. At least for something that costs over $200.

I'm debating between the Korean IPS monitors or the Hanns G 28" 1920x1200. Maybe I'm wrong but the Hanns G might be easier on the eyes for text reading since it has a large pixel pitch and matte screen. The Korean IPS monitors have relatively small text, if one looks at the specs, and their glossy screen would likely reflect light, especially during the day (and at night from the inside lights). The higher resolution does look tempting; however, my computer hardware isn't the latest so maybe I'm not the best candidate for them.

On the other hand, the 16:9 ratio might make the movies look great as that ratio is most commonplace. Maybe I should just upgrade my integrated graphics to a Radeon 7770 or something similar and jump on the catleaps. But then again, my system probably wouldn't be powerful enough to play most modern games at medium settings at that high resolution. I've got a Athlon X4 635 and 4GB of RAM. If I had better hardware, I would most likely consider the catleaps but right now, I'm having second thoughts. Do people with similar hardware report good results with the Korean IPS monitors?

Which catleap are you looking at?

raildogg this screen is like a mirror so you will have reflections. I don't have problems with text but i understand where someone else might. Text is very crisp and super sharp. You can always zoom in a bit if necessary.

At the start of my catleap quest, I was under the impressions that there are huge differences in IQ between the various models. I bought the Yamakasi Q270 Catleap, not because I think it's better than other models but because it was the one I found most owner comments on. Ebay link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/140732640429?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

If you are planning to get a catleap, 7770 won't cut it. I ordered a 7950, arguably the 3rd or 4th best single GPU money can buy and I'll still have to compromise IQ in gaming. 7700 means you'll have to make so many IQ compromises, the gaming experience may not be worth it. Then again, if you spend most of your monitor time on less GPU intensive tasks, it may be worth it.

confirmed... Q270 Catleap is HDCP.

Don't disappear now, we eagerly await your impressions and observations.

Cyberlink BD & 3D Advisor should work. Make sure to run program on the screen/monitor you intend to view BD with.

http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/bd-support/diagnosis.do

Just enter any name/info and download exe file and install.
Cyberlink5302_Generic_CDT12046-01.exe (35.7mb)

On an AMD card there's no real way to verify through the control panel or AMD software.

So far I really like the catleap. Much better black levels, brighter picture, truer white level (after calibration files used), overall better color levels, crisper text...I can go on and on.

What I was getting at is there is a lot of things that make an IPS better than a TN. I was just going down the list. Wider viewing angles is another nice thing.

Will the tempered glass models reflect more light? What advantages do the tempered glass models have?

Tempered glass has a glass panel across the entire front including the bezel. Just for protection. The normal screen is glossy too.

yep, this is one of my favorite things about it so far. When i was playing games, having the screen tilted a little forward or backward used to make a big difference - which kind of sucked. Now it doesnt matter at all, and i dont have to worry about how its tilted - the image is always perfect.

Text is very easy to read, not any harder than my other 23" 10809 display (not sure if its a lower DPI, too lazy to check).

I only checked for about 5 mins, but i did not find a single dead pixel on mine. There might be, but im not really interested in finding it if it doesnt want to find me yet. Backlight bleed is noticable when the screen is completely black, but this is barely an issue at all. It looks great even in dark games.

I bought the 120hz version, but im still at 60hz for the time being. For people who are unsure if they want the 60hz version, id say just get that for 300. I spent 550 for this, and im sure it will look even better at 120hz, but not really a big deal if you dont have it. I guess if your a super hardcore FPS gamer you might care, but i doubt it.

Honestly i cant say enough about this monitor. Its beautiful. Like i mentioned before, i dont remember being this impressed even by the dell 2711 i had a few years ago. It feels like i have a new PC.

I will say the only thing im slightly disappointed in is that some games dont look that much better in 1440p than 1080p. First game i tried was BF3, and it looked about the same at 1440p as it did in 1080p. Im sure there will be some games that look better than others, but it was just a little bit of a letdown.
