and have you used a true 120hz monitor before this? I would like to see how it performs compared to my present monitor.

I owned a 120hz LG monitor last year. Performed great, but I returned it since I couldn't justify spending $400+ for a 1080p display in 2011, and I don't play games in a competitive manner anymore. The Catleap won't match a TN panel in response time, ghosting, or input lag, but it's close enough to where the stunning display more than makes up for those downsides.

Thanks, my decision is made. I almost wanted to switch to a 1440 monitor before hearing about catleap. This just makes it that much easier of a decision.

any news on how many theyll have in june? I want to make sure i get one. If not, i guess ill have to get a regular version, and then hope they release the board to oc it to 120hz.

I bought a Shimian Achieva QH270-lite monitor from ta-planet on Ebay over the weekend. Despite the comments everywhere saying it was a waste of money, I bought the "pixel perfect" option because I wanted an avenue to whine if I got a monitor with dead pixels and thus paid $363.

They shipped it on Tuesday (holiday on Monday in S. Korea) and I got it yesterday at noon. I opened the box and it was all very nicely and professionally packed and looked like a brand new monitor from the store - people have said that their was sandwiched between sheets of strofoam or cardboard, but mine was very professionally boxed.

I unpacked it, looked at the stand - which was a solid chunk of non-adjustable plastic - and set the stand aside. The dual-link DVI cable looked ok to me - but I'm no expert on DVI cables. The power connector was Korean, so I set that aside as used a spare computer cable that I had. I used the VESA mounting holes on the back to attach it to the wall on my adjustable wall mount. Then I hooked everything up to my computer and powered it up and I was very impressed with the image quality, the colors, and the brightness. The image is crisp, the colors are gorgeous, the coating on the screen is a bit glossy but not too bad. It's a big upgrade in quality from my 24" Soyo Topaz MVA screen.

There are no dead pixels - no pixels are stuck at any color. I loaded up a variety of images and I don't see anything stuck darker on an all-white screen, and I don't see anything stuck at white or any other color on an all-black screen. Beyond this, I'm no expert on panel quality but it all looks very good to me.

I'm very pleased with the LCD monitor, how it looks, how good games look on it, the pixel density and how big the screen is, the price that I paid for it and I'm blown away by how fast it shipped from South Korea to here.

Photos of the packaging and the monitor are here at Imgur

Well I haven't done the pixel tests. I just ran some games, So i saw blacks, web browsing showed me whites. IF I actually run tests for the monitor, it will be during the weekend. However, I'm not sure I really care that much. Its big, bright, and makes me realize how outdated my s-pva panel was

BTW...

That's the cable I bought. It says dual link.

IT IS NOT DUAL LINK

The reviews for that cable say it's fake.

Didn't your monitor come with a dual-link dvi cable? Mine did.

Also, add me to the list of people that got a pixel perfect display without paying extra.

all these people ordering make me want to just say F IT and get 2

however no one answeed my question earlier about the AD board models that you can feed different imputs, do the function like other monitors with multy imputs where you can select which one you want on the fly or no?

also id love to see some pics of them in peoples rooms just to see how reflective they really are, bet others would like this also

I wish I had not purchased 3 Dell U2412M's mid last year as you can get 3 of these for almost the same price. Too bad my wife will never go for more monitors at this point, something about having 5 in my home office

Just wanted to post my experience with these "a-" ips panels.

I pickedup one of the microcenter ones about a week ago and couldn't be more pleased. Its pixel perfect and has no backlight problems (although i had to bin 2 before i found one) and comes with the warranty as well which is nice.

Coming from the Asus Pa246q, this monitor is a nice (a little hard to say upgrade) but improvement somewhat.

The panel on the asus seems to be faster but I havent noticed any major issues when coupled with D3, SC2, Wow, SWTOR, or BF3. This auria EQD monitor however does not play nicely with my 6950->6970 but works fine with my GTX 680. I still am not sure if this is a catalyst 12.4 issue or just a 6970 issue or what. What I do know is that after doing fresh installs of everything that the Nvidia rig is much more stable with the new monitor, where both cards worked fine with the Asus.

In all, $415 walked out the door which was cheaper than what I paid for my ASus so I'm happy.

how many people here are banking that they release the board to upgrade to 120hz? I really wanna just buy one now, and then upgrade when the chip comes out. We will see how much willpower i have...

Just got mine setup. I think it's pixel perfect, at least I'm not noticing any dead or stuck pixels yet. It's a lot larger than I anticipated I don't have room for my second monitor yet. I will when I get my new desk. Right now at 3:30 in the afternoon I have no issue with glare at all.

Overall perfectly happy with my purchase. I'll snap a pic when I get things cleaned up here Anubis.

I'm not banking on it, but I presume I would have had to get a Catleap to be able to use it so I'm out anyway.

But what does 120Hz get you in real terms? Can the eye really tell the difference?

well on my 120hz asus, it definitely makes a difference, probably in some games more than others. BF3 i probably dont go anywhere near 120fps, but it still does seem very smooth - not sure if the 120hz has anything to do with it.

Even in desktop use, you can see the difference. Just the way the mouse works, and how scrolling looks - especially if you have smooth scrolling enabled makes a big difference.

I think coming from a 120hz monitor, i would see the difference, but if youve never used 120hz before, you probably dont know what your missing, so not really a big deal.

Did you pay the extra $15 for the perfect pixels?

Happy to see this deal finally getting some traction at Anandtech. It's has some risk but most outstanding deals do. You're basically getting a $800 monitor for as low as $295 for that excellent price you incur risk such as lack of RMA and US support for defects which may arise such as dead pixels/backlight bleed and so on.

If they can make profit off these things at $300 including shipping that must cost them $100, you can rest assured that we will have 120hz variants of these panels soon for $300 or even less.

There was talk on 120hz.net on getting the PCBs, but they either need ~$500 000 to get a clone done for cheaper, or get something between ~$120-$150 per PCB.

LG was the only people that produced the "2B" PCB variant. They aren't making it anymore. That's the problem.
