So what would be the best method for me to run two of these off of a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 670? I know it has a dual link dvi-d, dual link dvi-i, hdmi, and displayport adapter. From my understanding, these korean displays require dual link dvi-d outputs.

Is an active displayport to dvi adapter the only way I can go?

Can anyone tell me how to install an ICC file and make sure that it's being used? I've never done it and Google isn't being especially helpful.

i know you go to Control panel - color management - all profiles - add - add your icc profile

however i have no idea if that simply sets it or if you have to do something else as well

so i got mine today, i ordered 2x Achieva ShiMian - QH270-Lite from TA_Planet, I ordered last Thursday the 5th at like 11pm EST, they arrived today. i ordered the cheapest ones he was selling, not caring for perfect pixel or any of that. however both of these are PERFECT, i cant find a single stuck pixel/dead pixel on either monitor

I CAN REMOVE THE IMBEDED IMAGES AND JUST GO TO HOTLINKS IF PEOPLE WANT

Boxes - thats exactly how they were shipped, fedex label just stuck on the box - this isn't really any different then how i got my last ones from newegg

this note was inside both boxes

white specs are Styrofoam under the plastic cling

Sitting on my desk in front of my old monitors (2x Asus VK266H - 25.5in 1920x1200 TN pannels which actually cost the same as the QH270 2-3 years ago)

This is a pic of one sitting in front of a 50in Plasma TV just so you can really see how large they are

Sitting next to one of the Asus monitors

Old Setup

New Setup -

lights off/no flash

It has VESA mounts,

http://www.rootminus1.com/admin/Shimian/DSC_2868.JPG

however the screws i have for my mount are too long, even the short ones, the monitors came with 2 screws each and they are SHORT, wont even fit through my mount plate. they also don't screw in very far, makes me somewhat weary of mounting them, stands are not the greatest but they work and seem solid enough, not really that much better then the ASUS i had previously, however definitely inferior to the 2408WFP i use at work

reflections with just the 2 desk palps i normally use are not bad, if io look yea i can see the reflection of everything on my desk, but when displaying content its really a non issue

I just got mine set up. The screws that came with the WalMart stand were too long so they had to be cut with a dremel. So far everything looks okay. I used my old monitor plug for the transformer because ta planet sent a 2 prong round plug which won't work. So you guys in the US that ordered a Shimian Lite might need a monitor plug. Possibly a power supply/Xbox plug would work as well. The important part is the transformer works. I was only able to OC it to 64hz so that is a little disappointing. My 24" Asus could do 66hz.

I'll mess around with it for awhile and update if needed.

Not that I expect my Crossover to be able to do it, but how do you OC the monitor? Is it a pain to reset it if you push it too far?

If you have an Nvidia card you simply set a custom resolution and increase the hertz and test it. If it fails to come on in 2 seconds just hit esc and it will go back. I think the crossovers are the only ones that OC very much.

Anubis: My screws were 12mm with my stand so I shortened them to about 7mm with a dremel. A local place I called didn't have that length and I didn't want to wait to use my Shimian so they are now 7mm. My Shimian had only 2 screws in the top and they are about 4mm.

Any options for ATI/AMD cards?

Any options for ATI/AMD cards?

I found a program called "CRU" on one of the threads - at overclockers.net, I think - that changed the programming of the monitor to allow other refresh rates with my ATI card. It wasn't very easy to set up but when you are done, you flash the monitor's ROM and then when you change resolutions in Windows (or Linux or otherwisE), you can see other alternative frequencies to change to. With my Shimian, I got it up to 67Hz. Not much of an overclock, but something. I stuck CRU into my dropbox here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ezi63dnvyyct2c6/cru-preview.zip). Here's a Youtube video about how to use it (it's not at all straightforward)

After reading up on the Crossover some more and checking the power supply I received, it looks like it's not rated for 120v. Only 190v-220v. Though it is rated up to 3 amps, which means 360 watts at 120v. That's way more than this monitor will ever draw. Do you think I should be concerned?

I have 2 stuck pixels and no dead pixels, from what I can tell. I'm going to try some of the free utilities for "unsticking" them, but they aren't noticeable.

There is a thread at OCN where the power brick was 240v but it tested fine. I don't think it would turn on if it weren't right. Does the transformer get real hot? Mine feels like it is about 100F.

Yeah, I was reading the same thing. I'm not worried.

My 6950 seems like it's working WAY harder in Diablo 3 at 2560x1440 vs. 1680x1050. Might have to upgrade or go Crossfire.

So I found out my parcel was held back in customs, due to missing in-voice, so I e-mailed it to customs, and they say they usually take 4-5 days to process, then add the delivery, so probably in the beginning of next week.....and this order was placed 5/26 must...not...loose...patience...

After more than a week of using my monitor, I have to say that it's one of the best computer purchases that I've made in a really long time. I love the colors, the clarity, and all the screen real estate and it's been great in games. Scaling using my Radeon card is really good. Overall there's nothing to complain about. It's a beautiful monitor at a good price and every time I sit down in front of it I think "wow".

Been reading up on these and have been thinking about pulling the trigger. I moved my FW900 last weekend and suddenly I love the monitor less. The FW900 might only make it one more move before I get tired of transporting its 100lb weight.

I'm looking for the ones that can do 85+ hz, but my limited research has showed me I might have missed the boat there. The newer revisions "2D/2E" don't do higher refresh rates like the 2B/2C revisions. Or so I have read.

I've had my Crossover since Monday and I really like it so far. It seems to be built really well and the height is perfect, because it just fits under my hutch. Color and clarity is awesome. My eyesight isn't great (probably from staring at a monitor for 8+ hours a day), so I increased the Windows text size by 25% and I zoomed in the forums 1 notch in Firefox. Took me a few hours to get used to the hugeness and resolution (coming from a 22" 1680x1050 monitor).

Diablo 3 looks great, but it's still a 60hz monitor (which is all I've had in the past), so you might notice a little "slowness." I only really notice it when items are on the ground and I try to read their names while moving. It could just be D3. My videocard (6950) is definitely working harder and spinning up the fan, but I still hit ~85FPS constantly in D3 with everything maxed.

Overall, I think getting one of these monitors is a great buy for most people. If you have an older videocard/CPU and game a lot, or you're just very sensitive to monitor response times, it may not be for you. Otherwise, go get one.

you can check 120hz.net and see if you can get one from the new run that should be happening soonish i think. also BigCLothCraft on ebay still has some of the 2b versions listed, however i have no idea if they are legit

The ones that BigClothCraft is selling are 2C PCB, which means, yes they are "overclockable", but they drop frames beyond 67hz, so it is pointless to overclock them. Also it is the "multi" version, meaning it comes with all those extra inputs at the cost of input lag due to the scaler and other extra circuitry. So the one to get is the real 2B which does not have HDMI, VGA, etc.

120hz is where my research took me as well. I am getting in touch with the guys there to see about how you go about purchasing them when they become available.

It's false advertizing then, because the seller is listing them as 2B.

You can run two of these monitors off of a Windforce GTX 670. Although the GTX 670 "only" has a DL-DVI-D and a DL-DVI-I, DVI-I is equivalent to a DVI-D port with additional pins for analogue output as well.

You do not need an active displayport to DL-DVI adapter to run two of these off your video card.

Thanks so much for the clarification. After looking through a couple websites, it does make a lot more sense. Looks like I won't be needing that additional adapter after all.
