Heat's gone, no more ruining a shirt by wearing it for 1 hour standing still outside.

Malls are empty again, but school's back, ugh...

It means I have to put my car away soon.

It also means that I get to take my snowmobile out soon, given we get snow along with the -30 weather.

Definitely glad that we SHOULD be done with the 100+ degree weather...but some years, we still get that into October...

Otherwise, no, I'm not glad that summer is over.

I don't care much for rain or fog, which are our normal "winter" weather types.

Speaking of fog it's quite dreary now. Big difference compared to a week ago. The wind was blowing so hard it was impossible to venture outside with a dress and not experience the parachute effect. D:

Pics of parachute effect?

Seriously, what is the parachute effect? Just the dress poofing out?

Mildly - yes. The blow last week was strong enough for full inversion.

Haha tulip pretty much wraps it up.

80F & not a cloud in the sky in Madison. Spent the afternoon at the pool, cooling off inside while I prep burgers for dinner. Summer's not over.

Last time I checked, summer officially ends Sept. 22 2010 11:09 PM EDT. So no it's not over (here in the US anyway) yet. :sneaky:

Summer Equinox explained

Actually the meteorological summer ended on the first of September.

Summer is officially over (for me) when school starts and we change itineraries. Amazing difference between manifests.

I love the warm weather but I won't miss the sweltering nights. I sleep better when it's cooler.

I'm dreading winter. We got away with almost no snow last year. I know we're going to get punished for that.

Can you list some changes? I imagine many of the changes would be targeted towards adults, but I don't know what they would be. Maybe something like different entertainers, longer access to booze, and so on?

Also, some of us are leaving winter behind, not summer.

On the weekends in winter, I love sleeping with the window open then waking up nice and toasty with the cold all around me. I could lie in bed like that for an hour easy.

Much older crowd and a much quieter "mature" setting in the evening after the usual dining timeframe.

Oh and yes for those below the equator your spring has sprung.

Imagine living right at zero degrees latitude. 12 hours of light 12 hours of dark 365 days/year.

"Mature"? So do they whip out the pianos and string quartets? Or more like drop trousers and go crazy? Hmm, maybe both.

I don't know how well I'd do at the equator. It's nice to have change. In the winter I can bitch about how cold it is and how it's too dark in the morning. In the summer I can complain about how the sun wakes me up at 6 am even on weekends, and how I'm always sweating my balls off.
