Anyone else had this happen with their Nexus 6P?

loved the phone when I got it but the last many months it's been terrible.

the battery life, once amazing, just drains so fast - when idle or when using it. it's simply horrific battery life.

it also gets slow and unresponsive. a reboot fixes that though for a few days. i have about 85 apps installed.

i bought this phone November of 2015. the battery should physically still be ok.

gonna do a factory reset this week, as that must be the next step. but anyone else have this happen?

Either one of your google accounts isn't syncing(contacts/calendar is the likely suspect) or some app is running in the background and the phone isn't going into deep sleep. Download cpu spy and see at what mhz the phone is constantly running at.

The battery on my 6P is pretty much fubar. Light use and it's down 40% in a hour. And if I try and take a photo when it's less than 58% the phone will shut down. Factory reset didn't do help for me. Thankfully, I got Nexus Protect and will be getting a replacement for it.

Is this after installing 7.1.1? My wife's 6P's battery was significantly a lot worse after the Nougat update, but then after 7.1.1 it was noticeably better.

Yes, I've had mine for a year, and the battery life is garbage. Check out the 6P subreddit - full of battery complaints. I get the Pixel is out, but Google is just ignoring this phone altogether.

I always have to have a cable nearby for charging. I'd switch phones, but don't see anything interesting (especially something that can match the 6P's camera for <$500).

Mine has been okay, but rarely makes it through the day without charging at work. If i didn't like the software (Android Beta Program) I'd probably go LG or Samsung.

My nexus 6p is just 13 months old and has been having battery issues lately (1-2 months), weird sudden shutdowns at 50%, 35%, 20% down to 0%.
Many believe this is a Nougat problem and there are several articles about it. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3152...s-report-serious-battery-drop-off-issues.html

Using Accuebattery ap past few days and it states my battery is only 2200 (should be 3500)

was actually ready to root my phone yesterday so I can properly reset my battery but decided to hold off and wait for a fix.

also entertaining on replacing the battery if the root, battery reset does not work but the Nexus 6p is hard to open based in ifixit, need to buy heat gun and have to mess around with the amount of glue used in this device.

1 more month if no fix then will root and or buy a new battery.

You are not alone

Somewhat good news they may replace your phone even if it is out of warranty for this battery issue.
Caveat is that phone should have been bought from the google store.
Mine was bought 11/2016

mention this reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus6P/co...ery_including_random/?st=ix951wst&sh=d7e4be21

They do know about the battery issue of the Nexus 6p,
They still have to go thru the drone trouble shooting script that most power users have already done.

Good Luck

Yea non-removable battery has got to be the biggest downside of the 6P. It's a terrific phone, absolutely love it. My battery is still good imo, but I'm sure it will start tapering off dramatically at some point.

I would try root with custom roms if a factory reset doesn't help. Have done that since day one and my 6P has been flawless. So glad I dumped Samsung and their locked down bloat.

fyi google store is replacing my nexus6p (refurbished unit) even though it is 14 months old.

I really think its a battery issue shutting down 30-40%
I just hope the refurb does not have the same problem

peace

Mine has been fine - fingers crossed. Bought it November 2015. Is everyone that's experiencing battery issues on Nougat? I'm still on 6.0.1 since xposed isn't released for N yet.

Anyone experiencing this is 100% stock? Because now after a couple of weeks on 7.1.1 my wife's 6P battery is really amazing.

I'm rooted and still have a problem. 7.1.1 didn't change anything. I don't have a different rom or kernal installed right now, simply rooted.

My point is that it seems like everyone who is experiencing problem is either rooted, has unlocked bootloader, or any other modifications and therefore not 100% stock (there's a good reason for that, too. most people want a Nexus because they like to tinker around, so it's understandable).

My wife's 6P on the other hand is completely stock on 7.1.1 (only ever taken OTA updates whenever available) and has an amazing battery now at 7.1.1.

My 6P has been completely stock ever since I got it last year, and I'm getting shit battery life (2-3 hours SoT over 12-18 hours)

it really is a battery issue

google replaced my nexus 6p despite it being 13 months old (only has 1 year warranty)

download accubattery and let it run for a week, my old phone only showed 2100 mah capacity when its was supposed to be 3450mah.

the new refurbished phone despite having a manufacture date of 11/2015 currently shows 3256 mah

just mention the reddit post about it and they may replace your phone for free even out of warranty, provided you bought it at the google store.

fyi my orig phone was never rooted, i did constantly kept on the charger that may have broken the battery, now i am more careful and only charge when needed.

free return label for the old phone was also given. you may get lucky and get a refurbished unit with a newer build date

now i have rooted and running pure nexus 7.1.1 with the google assistant and battery life is good with no unexpected shutdowns

good luck
