Anyone else happy about the Smashing Pumpkins being back together?

There's not a whole lot of music that comes out these days that appeals to me, so I'm glad that SP is releasing a new album this summer. I wasn't a huge fan of Adore, but hopefully they move back to the older sound they had on their earlier albums.

Anyone else happy? I think the latest release date on a studio album that I have is 2000. I need to find some good new music soon.

Can't stand Corgan's voice, personally. I guess some of their tunes didn't sound too bad if you can overlook his "singing".

I wouldn't say terrible, but I didn't miss them. The idea of them trying to make this generation's version of The Wall is sad. But they knock the candy out of the Foo Fighters, who are always on the radio : (

I can't wait until they start touring again. The new album is supposedly supposed to come out 7/7/07. It will likely be the first big label album I've bought in about 6 years.
I own every single one of their official releases (albums, singles, etc and even some promos and bootlegs) through the Mellon Collie era. Siamese Dream is still my favorite album of theirs. Absolute masterpiece beginning to end. I didn't listen to them very much during the Adore era but I'm hoping they revert to their older style. Zwan was pretty horrible. Long live the Pumpkins. That is all.

Don't mind their albums but they are one of the worst live bands I've ever heard.

Check out that new group (i think) silverside pick up or something like that with their song lazy eye.

I swear when I first heard that song on the radio I thought it was a new SP song before the singing kicked in.

I'm not trying to say the singer sounds like Billy at all but their music sounds like SP older stuff IMO.

i can't WAIT.

when i saw Billy Corgan solo at the Fillmore, he spent 20 minutes or so talking with the audience (an actual dialog!). he talked about the return of the pumpkins. he thanked people for being there and sticking with him even though his solo music was challenging and so unlike current pop music. he talked about the poor state of current music, and promised that when the pumpkins returned, they would bring "THE ****** METAL." everyone cheered.

the new album is produced by Roy Thomas Baker, who also produced a couple other little things you might have heard of... um... motherfvcking BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY! Not to mention other stuff by Queen, The Cars, and even The Darkness. So yeah, I expect Billy and Jimmy will be back in full fuzz-guitar glory, bringing "the ****** metal." Their Myspace page has My Chemical Romance and Muse in the Top 8, so all signs point to ambitious prog/stadium-rock.
