anyone else has back problems?

so i think i totally fvcked up my back. my lower back is sore all the time. i think it's because my previous office chair was poorly configured and i set it in for about 100 hours a week.

anyone has any recommendations on how to get over this? measures that i can take?

Use an exercise ball as a chair. I'm sitting on one now. It has helped improve my back.

Considering that it is your back, and also considering how important your back is, I would probably consult a doctor.

That said, my personal theory about most aches and pains people have is that they are the result of a lack of exercise. Of course, I don't know if this pertains to you. Good lower back exercises are straight-legged deadlifts, and good mornings. Again, I would consult a doctor before starting out on an exercise routine when it concerns your back.

I have had the same problem. I adjusted my chair so that it no longer leans back at all and I make sure to sit up straight. As a result I am having less back pain.

A doctor won't do squat for you but give you a few pills and maybe some exercises or physical therapy referal.
I have also had spinal injections and am now trying Decompression therapy.
Surgery is the last thing as they have about a 30% success rate on reducing pain.

Best I can say is try and get up at regular intervals from your chair and strech.
You could also try a lumbar pillow.
remember all damage or injury is cumlative so if you have an urge to portray Hercules for that girl in the next cubical, resist it.
Invest in a good matress and exercise regularly.

I have upper back issues from sitting in a chair all day. My rhomboids (area between shoulder blades) are extremely tight. I've been seeing a chiropractor and it's getting alot better. That's a hard area to stretch out well.

is this permanent? i switched into a chair that has a fixed back, not really sure if it's helping. i am 22~!~~ too young to have back problems!

Not sure if your work does this but you need a proper ergonomics assessment of your desk area (or wherever you sit/do your work), things such as the chair itself the height of the monitor to your eyes, whether you need a footrest etc all contribute to your overall health.

I would ask at least, because they are the one responsible for injuries like this at the workplace.

Get excercise... the less fat you are, the less pressure is placed on your spine.

The stronger, more developed, the muscles in your midsection are, the better they will support your spine and keep everything in order.

This may sound strange, but get an adjustable air bed. I used to deal with a lot of back pain from playing racquetball or just picking up something wrong. Also, my wife had a similar issue, though no apparent cause, she literally couldn't sleep more than 5 hours a night without having extreme back aches. We invested in an adjustable air bed about 6 years ago, called a Comfortaire bed. Since buying it, I would never go back to a regular bed. The reason I think these types of beds really can't be beat is that when your back is hurt, what was comfortable in a bed before, probably isn't anymore. So, each night, I could adjust the bed to match the support my back needed. I found that my back healed much quicker, from taking a week to two to heal, to feeling better in a couple of days. My wife has no trouble with her back anymore, unless we spend a very long time in bed, like 10 hours or more. I don't believe brand matters much more than the price/warranty you can get, but everyone I shared my experience with that has bought a similar bed, say they would never go back.

No, I am not advertising any particular brand of bed, just relating my experience with you. Good luck!

Walk around every 15 minutes to move it, lose weight, and lift weights.

Your back will thank you.

Lots of people can't, there are rather large insurance issues with allowing employees to use the exercise balls
