My whole body clenches up when a buddy is driving to fast. I don't like the feel of terminal velocity.

I can't be the only one that hates it and gets pissed off at the driver? Don't be fucking with my life.

Unless you've gone skydiving I don't think you've ever felt terminal velocity in your life.

all i'm saying is I hate that out of control feeling when a car goes really fast and you aren't in control of it but someone else is.

Yeah, not a huge fan of going fast in cars which is why I always drive the limit and stay in the slow lane.

No. But what I do hate is when someone makes a terrible thread for every stupid idea that pops in their head. I also hate not rhyming like Dr. Seuss.

I'm sorry if my threads piss you off, but they mean something to me.

So umm it's not that you hate speed, you just hate when your friend is driving and he speeds. Two totally different things.

He is hardly the only one.

Are you a god fearing man? I bet you are, so why don't you meditate on Proverbs 17:28 for a while, fool.

He did put up another one with his cousin's I think, they are braiding each others hair, at least he wasn't lighting up with em at the time I guess.

Probably later....

Same. Five miles over for me, max, pretty rarely.

On the other hand, I can take being a passenger up to 80 mph or so. Anything faster than that I can't take it.

I like the feeling of speed, especially free fall in a controlled environment, or anything else in a controlled environment. Uncontrolled speed (like flying out of a car or falling off a building) would not be a very fun experience, because I know the sudden stop is inevitable.

I'd love to go skydiving some day. I'm getting LASIK in a month from now. I will wait a year for full recovery and seriously look into it. Doing it with glasses would kinda suck, especially if there's moisture in the air, or if I'd have to take them off. I went on a ~160' drop swing ride at Canada's Wonderland but the ride required to take off glasses. I may as well have been going on a regular swing, because I could not see a single thing anyway.

I rather be the one driving if I'm going very fast in a vehicle though. I also rather be alone if I want to go really fast. Whenever I take a 4wheeler or other toy out at camp, I always go faster alone than if I have a passenger, and when I am a passenger, I don't really like going as fast as I go when I drive. Something about control, and possibly lack of faith.

When I was younger and wasn't used to driving at highway speeds... Nowadays, I am the fastest car on the highway.

It's quite a thrill actually. Two wheels are better than four (save for rain and snow LOL)

in my experience, it's not the speed that's unnerving you, it's the lack of control.

i had my bike at 140mph this past weekend (track days ftw) and felt perfectly comfortable.

on the other hand, when riding passenger with friends at autocross, i still felt uneasy because i wasn't in control. they are great drivers, and far more capable than i am, but i still felt weird. which is how i know it's the lack of control, not the speed

There once was a poster named Mayne,
Whose posts were always mundane.
He just won't quit
With his horrible shit
And it's driving us all quite insane!

I'm not afraid of speed any more than I am afraid of heights. In both instances, my comfort level is directly related to how much I trust the person who's in charge of the equipment.

I have a great time on a big-time amusement park roller coaster, but those rusty travelling carnie rides are not as fun because it feels like the odds of an accident are much higher. Similarly, I would have a ball in the Ring taxi, but I have to constantly look around me for jackrabbiting idiots in the parking lot at work.

I have been on a very high tower that had a sturdy fence, so I felt no fear at all, but a third-floor hotel balcony makes me very nervous if the handrail is flimsy or hard to grasp, because I know that somebody could push me over if they felt like it.
