I can understand when paragraphs are totally uncomprehendible but come on when people swap around then and than and you need to make a post totally unrelated to the topic to flame or correct them its very unproductive.

So my question is to all you out there who do it. Why? Is it post count? Superiority Complex?

The thread title should read:

The phenomenon you refer to is a result of anal-retentive computer nerds needing to demonstrate linguistic superiority in the anonymous world that is the internet.

Because they're better than you.

I dont think that perfect grammar is needed on ATOT. However, many young people today can hardly communicate, and that is a problem.

In my case, I only point out issues with text when it *really* gets on my nerves. Someone once decided that I am one of the grammar police, but I only point out really annoying errors.

One thing's for sure: you've given them more fuel for the fire with this exemplary post that features at least one obvious spelling error and a run-on sentence.

For the most part, I correct people because I want them to learn.
Using words like 'uncomprehendible' will accomplish nothing but give educated people a glimpse into your education.

I really don't understand when people make up words online, because dictionary.com is readily available.
Everyone makes typos, but laziness bothers me.

i only correct when someone else thought they were high and mighty when correcting someone else and then blew it themselves:

"I luve you"
"ITS SPELLED 'LOVE' YOU RETARD"

"It's"

I think what you were trying to say is this:

I understand why they do it when a paragraph makes no sense. What I want to know is why they must correct a paragraph that makes perfect sense. I think it is unproductive.
