I don't want to freak you out or anything, but my cousin (39 years old) died over the weekend, and I just now found out that she died from her airway being blocked by mucus (she was getting over a cold.) She apparently tried coughing it up in the morning, couldn't breathe, passed out and died on the bathroom floor. Her mother found her an hour later.

You probably should see a doctor if it's an ongoing problem or if OTC meds (like Mucinex) don't help you.

I know, it was a complete shock. I've had four relatives and one best friend die in the last 9 months. Three of them were over 70 years old, but the cousin (who lived almost next door when we were kids, so we were pretty close back then) and best friend were both 39.

You may have a lot of mold/dust/polutants in the air in your room.

Try an air purifier and see if that helps. I had chronic bronchitis for 3 years with the same symptoms--an air purifier cured me. The furnace we have in the new house has a heavy duty purification system built in now. Not going to go through that again

No ones going to email you lol. Unless they want on a spam list.
Ok guess you have a point lol. Thought it would be easier that way anyway what works for me is watching what I eat. For a couple days no eggs flour salt fast food eggs are the worst according to what I've read. Google mucus free diet cut down on those type of foods and eat cayenne pepper wheat germ oil molasses vinegar kelp those types of food won't cause any mucus. Here is a link that explains it spam link removed I had symptoms for a year back in 2015 desperate to find a solution went to doctors four times and all they did is gave me antibiotics and didn't help. hope this helps anybody out there. There's other people that have this problem and it can be a nightmare I'll try to post this solution on other forums.

Good info, yeah just cutting out dairy as much as possible is a big step in the right direction.

Yes dairy should be cutout butter is not too bad. I guess some people's body attacks preservatives and dairy and less healthy food with mucus and it builds up. the cayenne pepper fights inflammation and from what I understand I had inflammation of the mucous membranes. Every weekend I would try anyting went through boxes of Mucinex used humidifiers went to doctors I felt pretty crappy for a year straight now luckily I'm good to go

Hi there, just wondering if you found out what this was? I know it's a late reply but I've got similar symptoms- had xrays and all sorts, never showed anything serious up but I've had this for years.

If I had this issue, and you suggested this as the solution, my response would be -

Hi all, i created an account specifically for this, because I really want to help people who have this same problem as I do. Trying for minutes or hours to cough out very sticky phglem or mucus, every single day. The cause of this problem, at least for me, is anxiety. The more I question why I cannot fix this problem, the more anxious I get, and the more it stayed/worsened. it also doesn't help that I have other things to stress about that makes my anxiety even worse. anxiety causes mucus, this has been proven. Before I realize this, I went to a lot of doctors and they all came up with reasons you can find all over this post. The best cure is to relax, calm down, make adjustments in your life to reduce stress, and it should get better, or even go off completely. Good luck.
