Yeah, it's pretty bizarre. Normally it's up around 450Mbps or so.

You've got the exact same package I have at home. Back when Cogeco upgraded the system for DOCIS 1.0 to 2.0, they neglected to notify their customers. So those using the old models were only getting a third of the speed they were paying for.

I'm getting a new ISP for myself. Let my parents figure out what they want to do.

Well I do have 6GB cap so it isn't terrible. But no... it's not great.

That being said, our plans are improving whilst the US is getting worse. We're on the right trajectory.

i know it has the speed boost stuff but i tend to get sustained 2.5-3MB/s when downloading ~3gb worth of xls/wav spreadsheets.

Pretty good considering 100/10Mb is what I pay for (cable).


This is through a Linksys E4200 V1 wireless router because there's no convenient way to run ethernet through my rental apartment. That's why I'm not sure about upgrading to 200/10Mb since that might saturate the WiFi. Also, not sure what I would actually need it for..

I've got charter cable at 100/5.

I know my speed is accurate at its rated numbers, on some servers it reaches its maximum potential. Not this one however, the speedtest.net server wasn't able to handle it.

I do all my downloading overnight anyway. I'd love to have higher upload though, so backups don't take several days.

At least my LAN is fast.
