So how is it? Worth buying?

Teso is getting old...should I jump ship and get WS?

Yes, I think so. It is a much different game than TESO, the whole feel of the game is different. The art style, while at first I did not like, has grown on me and the gameplay seems fun (I'm only 19). The first adventure zone was great and I'll be doing the first dungeon tonight. All in all it feels like a solid product and the most complete out of the box MMO I've played in a long while.

Sometimes, it feels like their is too much to do.

It is really well polished for a new MMO. I have only experienced very minor bugs, mainly with nameplates and the preorder bag. Difficulty actually ramps up as you level. This is something that I have not seen in almost 10 years from an MMO, Really looking forward to dungeon and raid content.

I've played until level 7, so I can only comment on the early levels. So far, its been quite a hassle with leveling. Main problem is the questing, its not interesting at all and feels too much like WoW questing or any generic mmo questing. The rewards and results just don't feel meaningful at these low levels.

Besides that, there is the performance issue. The performance doesn't scale up if you lower graphics. That is a problem for people on slower machines. I'm running at Radeon 7770 and I'm getting minimum fps of 25 and average of around 35.

Otherwise, its a pretty good game. Very polished. They were wise to launch with only a handful of servers, to keep server population high. I'll be playing for this month and probably one additional month. After that, it depends on how fun and accessible the endgame is.

They just implemented server transfers seems to have helped pergo a lot. They mentioned having transfers being up their sleeves already, but I'm still surprised they were able to implement it this quickly.

This is what NCsoft does. Notorious for a couple of things. First, they cap servers on purpose during headstart. The reason for this is to make the initial head start players spread out more. Second, they add more servers right on launch day with the new servers non-capped, and the older ones capped still. They do this in conjunction with allowing server transfers. This enticed more people to switch to lower pop servers are launch with their friends. When new players enter the game they see a whole bunch of servers with decent player distribution, but the older servers still look a bit "packed" to them. Most people don't like joining completely empty servers. Not with games like this. The trick is to make the new server look like they have enough headstart players on them to make the new players want to join them instead of going to the more packed other servers.

Once that has all shaken down, they remove the caps. Most servers will look "medium" server pops the entire time. It's a scheme to basically balance the servers using player tendencies.

Well, it released today. How are the servers holding up? I haven't picked it up yet (didn't preorder), but am likely going to. Although, I probably won't get much time to play. Stupid release at work and of course, nothing is finished.

There are A LOT of minor bugs that i have found. But nothing that really breaks the game or anything. Mostly just minor UI related bugs. like the quest tracker sometimes goes weird and overlaps quests. But /reloadui fixes it. Same sometimes my bags when if irst log in only show like 15 slots. but after a few minutes will show all of them. Again not a big deal just minor annoyances.

Combat has gotten a bit more fun now that i am level 19. The first 1-10 are pretty much just stand and pew pew. you could more or less just stand still. But it is ramping up to where you have to be more dynamic and dodge enemy abilities. Some of the guys ive been fighting if you just stay right in front will hit for ~50% of your health or more. Which make sit a bit more fun instead of what i felt like it was in WoW where you could just stay put and nuke a lot of the time.

Gold has also really picked up. Seems like level 1-15 they give you juuuussssttt enough gold if you were smart with it to buy your mount just from vendoring and questing. But in 4 levels since then i have made ~16 gold or so just from vendoring and questing again. So it seems like theres a bit of a weird imbalance where they limit it but right after 15 just start to give out more. But also buying abilities and stuff goes up in price.

The CX (commodities exchange) is also amazing. makes selling off ores and herbs and crap simple. The ui for it needs some work. like if i want to sell just ores there isnt a filter to just show them. least not that i saw. But i like it just shows "what are they selling for" so you dont have to scan or anything. makes tossing everything up on the CX pretty simple and easy.

The questing is pretty typical recent MMO. Go to Zone. In zone start at base 1. Do bunch of mission in base 1. last mission in base 1 sends you off to base 2. Rinse and repeat till next zone. The quests are all pretty much go click this, gather this, or kill these type mission. Which is fine with me as it keeps questing simple

So far i am enjoying the game. im going at a MUCH slower pace than i did in SWTOR. More just playing a level a night type thing and relaxing outside of game. So maybe that has kept my interest in the game a lot better to. I do feel like there is tons of content even at low levels. The areas feel big enough to not be cramped but small enough to not be running all over.

Also Carbine/NC Soft did a good job with the servers IMO. I went to Stormtalon with a new guild. First day wasnt tooo bad but we hit queues at night. By monday night though our queue was 2k people long and took 2 hours to get in. But since the transfers came online i think a lot of people have jumped to other servers. The queue tonight was only 400 or so and took ~15 minutes.

By the way the free guest passes went out and i have three. 7 day trails more or less if anyone wants to give it a shot let me know

i gave out my three.

On a positive the queues are getting WAAAYYYY better. Weekend nighttime queue was 2k people. Monday was ~700. yesterday ~400. Today...no queue yet! So looks like NCsoft/carbine are working some magic at least to help out with queues. Im sure thye could open up a higher pop limit before queues thanks to people being spread out a lot more now

Friend gave me the game, its pretty fun, more of the same though for a MMO. Certainly not unique in any way. If you want pvp, you came to the wrong game though. Its horrid. It took 15 people to kill me I could just constantly heal myself. I could of just did that the whole match but they eventually just ran off. lol

The funny part if you can hit on a guy with every ability you have for 10 min, he turns around kills you in 10seconds. heh

uhh, newbs that had no clue how to take down a healer. If I hit you with a heal debuff ability, you aren't healing through the damage just standing there. Promise you that.

Have had zero time to play this since launch. Definitely going to be putting in some time this weekend. Well, that is if Ultra SF4 doens't keep me occupied.

Well i'm NOT a healer..so figure that out.

On the PvP side, don't even bother with arenas. Last 10 matches I played half the team was afk just jumping up and down getting prestige.

I am on the fence with this game. I wanted to get into the betas but was never accepted. I would love to test it out if someone has a NA guest pass. I played WoW for 7 years, EVE for 4 and am wanting to get back into gaming.

This game looks awesome and would definitely be willing to help out in game with anyone who offered a key!

If asnyone still has one, I'd take a guest pass. Game looks interesting and fun...not typical fantasy MMO #12093.
