Hate it. I drive pretty much everything in US. First is getting on the plane is a pain since entry is like 6' and I hit my head. Then seats are too small and first class costs a fortune for example we went to Italy this spring and first class was $6500 vs $1200 for economy. I don't fit in economy seating. I'm 6'4" 245 so it's like stuffing a teddy bear in a Campbells Soup can. Then bathrooms OMG so small. Then screaming kids you can't get away from. Then security checks (thanks fundis) I remember the day there were none. Basically it totally sucks and I drive a lot. Town Car baby

I flew on a private jet to Brazil with founder of Mazzios pizza for fishing once now that was cool. Had lounge chairs, big screen TV, full bar, couches, queen beds etc.

Yea probably cargo or bombers. The government is planning on replacing those F-18's with something new. I don't want to be half way through training and have them bring in a completely new aircraft :hmm:. The chicks dig fighter pilots though.:awe:

Fighter training still requires 1-2 years of trainers.
F18s will not be replaced with a new A/C for at least 5-10 years. There is nothing in the pipeline to replace them yet.

Canada will not get the F22 - the F35 is not close to being on the production line. I do not expect that Canada will replace the Hornet with a Eurofighter.

It will be useful if you have some flight training/skills before applying to the service.

I like the take off and landing, but can't stand the time in between.

This. I dread air travel simply because of the long period of time spent sitting in a cramped seat next to a bunch of complete strangers all farting, coughing, and snoring.

If I could afford to travel first class it might be fun again and something I'd look forward to but that's pretty much the only way it would be enjoyable...or at least tolerable.

Oh. I got this off of the news. Any military spending makes big headlines here. Thanks for the info/advice.

I love landing and takeoffs, but that's about it. I design commercial airplanes for a living so it's fun to fly and feel like you have inside knowledge, but as soon as we hit cruising altitude I'm ready to land.

It is pretty cool that I can get to the twin cities in 3 hours (living 1800 miles away), while it takes my parents 4 hours to drive there (240 miles away).

I flew weekly for a number of years and I actually liked the down time in the airport club, lounging in first, etc. Leisure travel, though, I'd rather just get the flying portion over with and start the vacay!

I've started traveling on off days especially around holidays (leave a day earlier, come back a day later to avoid the heaviest travel days). I flew to NY a few months ago and on one of the flights it was only half full so I had an entire row to myself and nobody behind me which was really nice.

I also try to avoid flying into O'Hare or any of the airports around NYC just because you frequently hit delays there. Minneapolis is actually a good city to connect through...much better than O'Hare.
