Fools! THE LOT OF YOU!

What's next? Only eating vegetables and not eating meat or dairy products? BAH!

Give me a steak and a non-diet soda any day..in fact, I'll have two!

Uhhhhhhh...no it doesn't. I drink 1-2 cans of soda per day and my weight has been a consistent for the last 4-5 years.

Soda only has carbs, sugar carbs. Your body can burn those efficiently. If you sit on your ass all day, you'll gain weight from eating or drinking just about anything with carbs in it.

This does not answer my question.

because it has no nutritional value, excessive sugar, empty calories

Soda only on occasion, I drink mostly water, coffee, and wine/beer. I'll even make my own Vanilla Creme soda from time to time (like today).

I don't drink soda and never even really think of it. I can't even remember the last time I had one, it's been several years I believe.

Wow, I missed that post the first time through the thread. I ought to be Exhibit A to counter that post: 24, drinking carbonated beverages since I was a baby, 6'0" and have consistently weighed about 130 lbs for the last decade.

Well, I might be an extreme example.

At my height I was probably drinking close to 3L of diet soda a day. Always diet mind you. I still drink at least 2 or 3 cans a day or more.

Sugar is pure carbs, which is awesome. If you are smart, your brain can burn thru calories quite quickly. If you are active, so can your body. You obviously would not survive SOLELY on soda; you get your nutrition from other sources...like the slice of pizza that goes great with a 24 oz of Pepsi.

I don't drink soda mainly to cut down on costs. the only thing soda-y i drink would be the occasional red bull or energy drink to help me write papers.

I gave it up a few years ago and dropped about 30 pounds. Kept it up for a year or so. After I started my current job I started drinking again (Mt Dew is a comfort food, I drink it when I'm stressed) and I've put the weight back on. I keep trying to quit again, but it's tough. The caffeine withdrawal headaches after not having it for a couple days are brutal. Maybe I need a new job.

It's rare for me. Water and Orange Juice are much more common.

However, when I'm looking for some carbonation, it's IZZE for me. It's delicious and seemingly pretty healthy.

I drink diet pop (fuck the soda shit) and that's pretty much all I drink. I have no idea how many I drink in a day...depends on how thirsty I am.

Opinions vary (in honor of the late Patrick Swayze).

People should be happy about not being addicted, but being "proud" of not drinking soda isn't a good thing.

Although I guess in some cases people who are addicted will misconstrue happiness as pride, especially if they want to justify their own addiction to soda to themselves (much like with people who smoke cigarettes, though of course that habit is much more hazardous to your health).

What's wrong with pride in self-sacrifice? People should be proud if they can give up soda, or give up smoking, or lose weight successfully, or remain active in the gym. Life is about sacrifice, if you can succeed at that you should be proud of your accomplishments.

I found a bottle of that smart water stuff in my fridge, says its like infused with electrolytes and shit. Should I drink it? I normally just drink "drinking water" by the gallon jug or tap water run through a brita

There's a difference between pride and satisfaction attained from achieving goals. Sometimes we use the same word for both, but they aren't the same thing. I can be happy that I am losing weight, and can even talk about it with my friends, but once I start bragging or looking down on others it ceases to be satisfaction and turns into pride or even arrogance. It's the difference between being dedicated and strong, and being a self righteous ass.
