Anyone else notice hangovers getting progressively worse as they get older?

When I was 16-20 I didn't have anything that could even barely be described as a hangover, and I never threw up in the morning. In the last couple of years, especially in the last year, I wake up feeling and looking like a badgers armpit. This morning I woke up, felt like someone very large was jumping up and down on my head with hob-nailed boots, and could barely even see as I staggered to the toilet to be sick. I drank a pint of water before I went to bed too so I wouldn't be TOO dehydrated when I woke up.

Have any of you older members noticed increasing hell in the morning after drinking?

I used to have a problem with hangovers that I associated with age. Now, I can avoid a hangover by downing a glass of water & multivitamin before I hit the sack.

When i was 15-16 I could drink like a fish. 17 wasn't that bad. Now I'm 18 and my hangovers are so bad I don't like to drink anymore.

Yeah i noticed it. when i was younger i could drink and NOT get a hangover unless i did silly stuff like mix drinks.

Now if i have to many beers i get a hangover and yeah they suck.

Yes I have noticed that even when I drink a lot of water and take a vitamin before bed. The solution for me is to stop drinking for a good while.

Christ it's that bad at 18?:Q

Im seriously thinking of cutting back the amount I drink though (which isn't excessive anyway), I don't think I can take many more of them. If it carries on at this rate by the time i'm 30 each hangover will be a trip to hospital, lol.

hangovers are for young people who don't know when to stop drinking

if you are old and still drinking enough to get hangovers, there is something terribly wrong with you

Hangovers hsould get easier to deal with as you get older, since youa re suppose to learn from your past mistakes.

I take 2 asprin and drink 2 glasses of wather before I go to bed and never have hangovers anymore. And this is even after staying out till 4am and drinking a bottle or two of Crown.

As I got older I started to drink more than before. (Outside Capital Equipment Sales w/unlimited expense acct).

I rarely had a hangover but when I did it was a doozy. Now at my advanced age I need less to get high but never get drunk unless I have a LOT and again rarely a hangover.

Just information to answer your question. Talking liquor here also, beer is just the adult soft drink.

What everyone else said also. Knowing when to stop and having the discipline to do it is the key.

YES!!! I thought I was the only one or something. When I was in college I drank a lot and I did have some nasty hangovers (about as bad as I have now days, I'm 26), but the real bad ones were few and far between, like if I drank 12+ beers. Now I only drink occassionally and it seems that even if I have 3 beers I have a little headache and if I have 8+ I feel like I'd rather die. And I drink water, take a multivitamin, everything to try and it doesn't help. What the hell is going on?!? I think I used up all my non-hangover days in college

LOL I hear you. The disturbing thought is that because I abused it so much at university, i've prematurely knackered either my kidneys or liver or something, or some other essential part that should have lasted another good 20 years before giving me grief.

If I have a hangover, it means I puked. Otherwise I drink enough water before I fall asleep that it's not a problem.

I admit I'm extremely stupid when I drink. My tolerance to get a nice drunk going when I was around 15-16 was around 10 beers. Naturally I exceeded that and usually drank around 12. 17, I felt good at 12-13, but usually got pretty drunk when I drank around 15. Now I'm 18 and don't get a buzz unless I kill a 12 pack, and I'm not even drunk until I get to around 16 beers. It's not uncommon for me and other kids my age to drink 20 beers in about 4-5 hours and still be able to function decently. That's why we have the 20 Club in my school. There's not much else to do in my town besides drink.

It's not that it's a horrible hangover, it's just that when I was young, I would drink and be 100% the next day. Now, I wake up with a mild stomache, and it takes me until 2-3 o'clock until I'm at 100% again. It's not considered a bad hangover at all compared to many peoples standards, hell some people probably wish they had the hangover I get, but I just always like to feel that I'm at 100%. And after a nite of drinking, I'm usually not at that the following day.

Ya, I never got hangovers either but when I was younger I didn't drink as much. Now I can put away 10-12 good beers in a night and naturally feel rotten the next day. I'm usually drunk enough that even 24oz of gatorade before bed doesn't help.

I simply drink less now that I'm older. Also, I stay awake until I'm sober.
