I thought I had read ALL of his books, then I found this one a few days ago.

I'm about halfway through it now. Hopfully the movie won't SUCK....

Seems as though they "get it right" about 50% of the time (or less)

I always see the line. As a movie it seems like it would have some disturbing visuals.

I dont read books. The movies are always better if you never read the book. Just a little advice from aircooled.

Dreamcatcher was alright. totally not what I expected when I read it. The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon was ok too. It was a bit too unbelievable that so a little girl could survive so much. I know it's not supposed to be a true story but still, I like it when it's not too much of a stretch of the imagination. There were some geniunely freaky moments though.

My favorite recent one by King would have to be Bag of Bones. Highly recommended. kept me up for a couple nights reading it.

That's true.

But on the other hand, Books are ALWAYS better than the movie.

I really wish they would make a movie of this book it kicks a$$

Dean Koontz - Strangers

That's not true at all -- you say you have read all of Steven King's books, which means you've read his collection of novellas, Different Seasons, which includes Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.

Can you honestly tell me that the book was better? The few cuts that the movie made, like only having one warden instead of the multiple wardens in the original story certainly did not detract from the movie, only serving to make it more focused than a book.

There were even additions that made the movie better, like the scene when Andy plays the opera over the prison intercom.

What other movies have been better than the book? Forrest Gump? Requiem for a Dream? I'm sure there are countless others that I can't think of this minute.

I enjoyed dreamcatcher. I think it's going to be hard to get it all in a movie. with all the mind reading and all. I just read From a buick 8. Dont waste your time on that one.

I find it hard to see a movie after having read the book. Although, in Stephen King books, the movies have typically been very well done. I'm anxious for a Dark Tower series to hit the big screen!

Dreamcatcher was a great book.

Gerald's Game ... now, that is a crazy book. Nothing like handcuffing your wife to a bed at your remote lake cabin (during the off season) and having a heart attack. That book freaked me out.

"Dreamcatcher" was a very good read but like most books it happens in your mind, with your characters and your emotions.

They might be able to make a good movie of it but the book will always be better.

"From a Buick 8" left me cold also.

That may be the only exception.

That IS a GREAT film!

I thought it was a good book, curious to see how the movie depicts several aspects of it. Im not sure i like morgan freeman in the role he was cast. Great actor but i dont think he would fit his character. Either way Im looking forward to this one.

I've read Dreamcatcher and was disappointed to find out they were making a movie out of it. I don't think the gruesome way that people die will go over to well with the audience, and that his reputation as just a gory writer will be increased. I think some of his older works would translate better, but almost everything of his has been done already. Is there a movie for Salem's Lot? I've only read the first story in The Dark Tower series, but I think those books would translate better to the big screen. However, it'd be multiple movies and I don't know if it would be worth the risk.

As for books and movies, I actually thought Shawshank the story was better than Shawshank the movie, but I think King himself said he liked the movie better so there you go... And yes, Forrest Gump the movie was much much much better than the book.

If they were done well, the Dark Tower series would make awesome movies. Heck, they could even make a tv series out of them.
