Anyone else see themselves take a sizable pay impact this month?

Just got my updated pay stub and a couple of hundred bucks less than last year....wondering how many others in the coveted middle class on here are seeing the same.

Thanks Obama.

Everyone. And that's the social security tax going back to normal. It was set to expire. How do you think I feel with a raise and I'm making quite a bit less than before. More work because I was raised but less money..this company is really low cost operative. If they would at least replace my computer maybe I could just do more but nope piece of shit reboots everyday on its own and all I can do is call in and log a ticket. Blah

That is the lapse of the payroll tax exemption, and you can thank the House Republicans for that, not the President. Nice try blaming him, though.

How many people do you think are going to see their paychecks decrease by the expiration of the payroll tax cut and say 'YOU SEE I KNEW OBAMA WOULD RAISE MY TAXES!!!', all the while conveniently forgetting that Obama was the one that implemented that tax cut to begin with.

Note: these will likely be many of the same people who said that a 2% payroll tax cut was worthless anyway because it was too small.

Are you really this zealously loyal to the Democratic party and the President? It's like its a religion. Are you allowed to think for yourself or is that against party guidelines as well?

The folly in aligning ones self with either party...especially given the state of our Congress. Do you really think the Senate is any better?

He is making a simple factual statement. Obama supported extending the payroll tax cut, Republicans opposed it. The source of increased taxes on middle class paychecks is the end of the payroll tax cut.

Period. This is just a fact.

Its really just the black and white then....wow. Both of you are tainted by a political party.

It has nothing to do with black and white, it has to do with what is true. If you have additional information that shows what I said to be wrong, please tell me.

You and I both know it's not a factual as you'd like to believe. You show the facts, I'm not wasting my time.

Do you deny maintaining a resolute allegiance to a political party?

He didn't support extending the cuts, he tried to exploit extending the cuts to further his agenda. No dice, the blame lies squarely with him. Everyone who takes a major hit to their paychecks this month should know to thank obummer.

The truth is a religion now? All he did was tell people what the truth was as to why the payroll tax went up. (err back to normal).

I actually blame both parties and primarily President Obama for failing to LEAD instead of contributing to the division...what a crazy concept for this President.

Are you really this ignorant of the facts, and this inclined to blame the President for everything without knowing what the hell you're talking about?

Obama pushed for the payroll tax exemption to be passed, and fought successfully to keep it in place several times. Most recently, during the fiscal cliff negotiations, he tried to make it part of the final deal but the House GOP caucus refused to consider it so it was not included.

Honestly, if you don't know what you're talking about (and you don't), why are you commenting?

Ahh, so you say that it's wrong but refuse to say how. That's pretty hilarious. He requested it during the negotiations, the Republicans wanted him to drop it. He did.

I have no need to defend my voting record on here, which I have discussed in the past. I have most certainly voted for Republican candidates in the past, even if I generally do not.

False equivalence is every bit as much a sin as strict adherence to a party.

They shouldnt have been lowered in the first place. Of course no one will complain of an increase but by the time I'm old enough there will be no ss for me to collect so it is what it is. Im pretty sure republicans would have done the same..either way those making tons of money aren't going to complain regardless.

Why is the lapse of the payroll tax exemption a bad thing? It was reducing social security coffers by $120 billion a year. There was no decrease in spending to offset. WHy do you hate grandma so much?

Well I didn't know I was dealing with a political expert here...my bad. You really are fool hardy and ignorant if you think the situation is that "factual".

I'd blame any President who is a party member first and a failure of a leader second.

I can find fault with President Obama on a lot of fronts but not on that one. He has, if anything, ruled as a centrist, while dealing with, among others, a Senate Minority Leader who believed his most important job was ensuring the President would not achieve a second term. The fact that you are exclusively blaming the President for partisan division just shows the color of your own stripes, and you can't absolve yourself of that by claiming that others are too partisan.

The only one behaving in a foolhardy, ignorant fashion is you.

You really do think that statement is intelligent don't you?

What false equivalence would you be referring to? The President shouldn't lead? Continue to be programmed.

So do you think that the SS tax should be permanently cut by 2%?

Because if you are going to keep extending every year anyway why not just do that?
