I still think taxes need to go up more on everybody so that we stop the endless borrowing,

will never happen. our federal government is a financial whore. it doesn't matter they could tax us 100% and still borrow from china. its absolutely sickening.

No one understands the value of a dollar until they have none. I agree with taxes need to go up all around instead of playing a game called "Pull from certain pockets until they are empty"

Hands down the biggest moron. You are a WinRAR. Neither side wanted to extend it, but thanks for playing the game called "I'm a retard because my partisan is ALWAYS right" game.

In all fairness Don Vito Corleone is hardly the biggest moron around here. He is no where near the levels of mcowned, techs, ausm, phokus and quite a few others.

Well if we are going to continue to spend at the levels we are at with neither side willing to back down from protecting their babies, then ya, we have no choice but to raise taxes on EVERYONE!

He didn't support extending the cuts, he tried to exploit extending the cuts to further his agenda. No dice, the blame lies squarely with him. Everyone who takes a major hit to their paychecks this month should know to thank obummer.

Agreed, the Republicans wanted to extend them for all, the messiah and crew knew it was necessary to fund their social and entitlement programs as without funding from the coveted middle class they aren't getting anywhere....the top 2% no matter how much they are bled won't make a difference.

All I can say is I am getting ready for more fees.

Interesting that Obama was one of the few people on either side that actually wanted to extend the payroll tax cut for another year (it was already extended for 2012).

Only if they hit his magic $250K/year earner penalty number....otherwise no one pushed for it, and see above for why.

I don't think you understand the legislation you made a thread about.

Just got my updated pay stub and a couple of hundred bucks less than last year....wondering how many others in the coveted middle class on here are seeing the same.

Thanks Obama.

Yep, down a few hundred bucks a month, plus the AMT hit for last year.

inb4 rich 1%, because rank and file engineers make $200k a year.

You and me both man, but guess we have to keep believing that there was nothing that could be done about it and it was enevitable simply because it was slated to expire this year yet we can bake in provisions for hollywood....what I don't get is why bleat on about being for the middle class when clearly they are only interested in using them to pay for social services.

Oh really genius...

Please riddle me as to how I am supposedly an idiot.

The tax increase you are seeing in your paycheck is the 2% increase in payroll taxes. That is of course assuming you make less than 400k a year, and if you're arguing 400k is middle class well...that's just delusional.

Obama is the one who originated that tax cut, he extended it a year ago, and it was in his initial offers this year. It was dropped because Republicans objected to it. With that in mind it is baffling to blame this tax increase on Obama.

By social services, do you mean bribing voters to maintain and expand the welfare state and its system of wealth redistribution (aka theft)?

The government views people like us as nothing more than sources of income to be robbed at leisure.

By the way, since it's a couple hundred bucks lower and assuming that you're talking about the SS 2% being reinstated, this means that you brought in over $10,000 for the 2 week period. Since Obama has generally stated that over $250,000 is rich, that places you at the bottom end of the rich scale. Congratulations.

And for you thanking Obama, just make sure to thank the rest of the entire group of congress for it as I said earlier, nobody in Congress wanted it and Obama was the only one who wanted it (conditions or not)...he was still the only one who even had it on the table. Based on that, I'm assuming you were thanking him for trying to extend it for one more year.

This is the second thread I have seen on this subject and I have noticed that with each one the OP complains about the decrease, implies the end of Bush Tax Cuts, but doesn't break down which Deductions have increased.

As the thread goes on, others point out why, but it's still interesting to me that the OPs neglect certain details.

My guess actually, is some people who made over 110K last year comparing what they made last paycheck in 2012 when they were already capped, versus what was taken in a 2013 paycheck...which would amount to a couple hundred bucks.

That is the lapse of the payroll tax exemption, and you can thank the House Republicans for that, not the President. Nice try blaming him, though.

Are you really this zealously loyal to the Democratic party and the President? It's like its a religion. Are you allowed to think for yourself or is that against party guidelines as well?

The folly in aligning ones self with either party...especially given the state of our Congress. Do you really think the Senate is any better?

Interesting how, rather than challenge the veracity of DVC's statement, you elect to charge him with blind bias and zealotry.

what, even, is the point of your comment? You aren't actually saying he is wrong.
....does it bother you that what he says his correct, and rather than admit the faults of our current political zeitgeist, your only response is to rage when you feel that your own party and/or political view has just been criticized? You know...displaying your own silly zealotry? irony, really.

You really do think that statement is intelligent don't you?

What false equivalence would you be referring to? The President shouldn't lead? Continue to be programmed.

OK.

So, in this current climate which you freely admit to: where neither side is willing to compromise, where it is fully known by all with the capability of reading that the only goal of the last 2 sessions of Teabagger controlled congress is to oppose anything that Obama does, regardless of merit, regardless of need, regardless of soundness--to the obvious and great detriment of our country, "Obama be damned"--what does "leading" mean for Obama?

Does it mean stepping out, bitch-slipping these yahoos into submission and cramming every thing he wants down their throats, since it's plainly obvious that it is the only way to pass anything?
That's his only option, really. So, when he leads in this climate, how then do you label him?

Even Obama's treasury sec said it should go:

That's just from the first article I pulled up. I am sure I can find ya plenty more quotes. Everyone knew it was a temporary measure. Obama may have used it as a political football at one point he knew it should expire. Why do you think he threw it in his first plan that included $425 billion in stimulus ?

So what are you arguing, exactly? You seem to be blaming Obama now, in 2013, because the payroll tax holiday has ended and payroll taxes have gone up to their normal level. Yet you're telling us that "everyone knew" that the payroll tax holiday was temporary from the outset, in which case no one should be blamed that we're back to business as usual now.

This is a good example of false equivalence. CNN and Fox News are most certainly not equally partisan, yet you are acting as if they are.

Your opinion....both are for one party or the other. Do you actually watch the news on both networks?

Income taxes are increasing on those making far less than 400k per year.
