I got this for $4.99. Works incredible! It's just about as good as my TI-83 calculator for $12, or my new Agave jeans for $6 (normally 89 at Nordstroms). I always find great shit for cheap$$$.

Anyone else shop there?

Update: Just got Warcraft 3 battle chest for $3.99! It's at least $20 everywhere. It tied to my Blizzard account without issues.

I also picked up an original Counterstrike CD, which unlocked the entire Half Life Anthology on my steam account. Adding it up, if it was a combo pack i'd be around $30 to $40. Separately about $80. I paid $3.99 for it as well.

I have to go there more often!

I never usually find good stuff at Goodwill. They're expensive for a thrift store.

I really like the local Catholic thrift store. I go there when I need random parts. For example, I needed a blower motor, so I bought a vacuum for $2 and gutted the motor.

Awesome find! Ive gotten a lot from the Goodwill here...most recently a Saitek X36 flight stick and throttle for $2.99...works perfect and looks good! Just sucks though cause the city I live in is kinda poor...so they dont always have the best stuff :-/

no, it wasn't. You see all types shop at thrift stores. It's not just for poor people, it for anyone who was a good deal. I've donated and I've shopped. You can find some interesting things at thrift shops that you won't find any where else. and sometimes you will find original art work that is nice.

That's not what Goodwill is.
Goodwill is not meant as a "cheap alternative" shopping place for "poor people". It is a company that is put it place to help employ and "empower" people that may have a hard time getting jobs elsewhere due to disabilities and the like.
Hell GW has TV and billboard ads around here literally TRYING to get middle class people to shop there. My wife goes all the time and finds INCREDIBLE deals (dress and skirt from major fashion labels for $5 and such).

Goodwill's a little expensive, but I go there every so often. There's a thrift center thrift shop near me that I prefer. In any case, I'm with you in spirit. I don't buy anything new if I can get it used. There's tons of great deals if you keep your eyes open, and have patience.

I bought my LaserJet4 from the Goodwill Computer Store a long time ago - still working well too.

Also got a camera tripod and some logitech force feedback joystick for parts.


I have seen some weird stuff - plastic bins full of almost new plumbing cement, dozens of electrical junction boxes with the home depot labels still on them.

the funny part is ive run into doctors/millionaires/non-poor people at thrift stores as much as ive run into "broke" people shopping at a nordstroms.

The rich person stuffs the trunks of their M5 with clothes while the broke person puts their one pair of $100 jeans in the passenger seat next to their $5 starbucks coffee and $5 cheese danish.

You do realize that the stores are meant just to sell things to anyone, right? They run the thrift store for two reasons:

1. To create jobs for people that are out of work and need them, it gives them some training, some money and a reference.
2. Create income for Goodwill to use in their other programs.

The store is not aimed at only providing things cheaply to poor people. For it to function as a good revenue stream for their charity they want as many people as possible to use it.
