Anyone else using Cox Communications in Phoenix/AZ?

Recently at the past couple of places I've lived at in the past few weeks in Phoenix/Scottsdale (I moved recently), I have been experiencing very slow download speeds. We're talking 1/5 of my 25 mbit connection. I'm getting around 600 KB/s at any given time of the day and I should be/used to be getting 2500 KB/s or more. I just want to see if anyone else is experiencing the issues because I've confirmed with my cousin in Casa Grande that he is having the issue but it's affecting his connection even more than mine.

Pretty soon here I'll have to call them and ask for 1/5th of the price since that is the service I'm receiving right now.

I use Cox, but am located in Nebraska. My internet decides to shut off randomly. Not very happy. They can't seem to fix it, either.

I haven't had too many problems with them over the years, and just a couple weeks ago at my last residence I would always have a solid graph going at 2500 KB/s at least. But now it's just so slow I can't even play games or download very fast. I was reading about russia doing some massive DDoS attack on some company that prevents 80% of the spam on the internet but that still doesn't quite make sense to me how that would cause my internet connection to be slow. Pretty sure they would have to enslave tons and tons of computers on cox's service in a massive botnet that is constantly uploading for something like that to happen.

I'm in Phoenix and using Cox. I notice things get slow at times. Saturday night and sometimes during weekdays seem to be the worst times. I've had them out to check / replace the wiring outside of the house, etc. Made sure I'm using a Docsys 3.0 modem. Still happens.

I think my speeds have been ghastly lately, too. Did you try upgrading your modem to DOCSIS 3.0? That helped me out for a while but it seems to have slowed right back down again.

Yeah I'm pretty sure we have all the updated cisco equipment. We even had them come out and get things fixed up for the home security system we have but the internet is just killing me with how slow it's going.

I lived in PHX on 14 and bell, I would ALWAYS get shitty speeds. They came out several times to fix it and never could. It would be where I would get like 2 or 3 x 1
I was paying for 25 x 2 or something and when I would call to have it checked, sure as shit, when they would come out it would run at advertised speeds. As soon as they would leave it would drop again.

I hated them

I'm at 40th and Southern. I have the 25mbps plan / $19.99/mo promo, and a Motorola Surfboard 6120. Works great.

I live in Phoenix and have Cox cable, west valley. I sometimes notice slow speeds, but never to the point where it was bad enough to call support.

About a year ago, there was an issue with some external wiring that caused the connection to drop entirely. I was blaming my shitty Linksys router that overheated constantly, but replacing it didn't help.

Well it's either one of two things:
1. My room mate's Gateway/Router set up is weird here because there's a gateway that has both wireless and wired routing functionality but there is a netgear router attached to it and I'm not sure why.
2. Cox is throttling usenet/NNTP service.

Im in NW Peoria...I had Cox for about 6 years here. Was terrible. Aside from DL speeds never getting even 50% of what I was paying for, their DNS issues frustrated me (that was easily fixed by switching to openDNS). When I bought my house 18 months ago, I learned Century Link had fiber to the curb. Went to 40/5 with them, and pretty much always get 39.5 down/4.8 up.

Someone's hosting a porn site on your segment, that's the only viable answer here.

Unfortunately I'm in Afghanistan, but the simple thing to do is set up your "server" on a non-standard port. It's simple, people do it all the time.

Do you really think I believe you? I am not that stupid.

I am a expert on Cox.

I am in southern Arcadia (48th and Thomas) and here are my results:

It has been weak lately. I used to get 2.3 MBPS solid but it has been shitty lately. I have a docsys 3.0 modem and a signal amplifier right next to the modem.

Scottsdale and McDowell area. I have the "Ultimate" package with "speeds up to 150mps. I've had nothing but issues with them and if they weren't the only real speed option in my area I'd drop them without a second thought. I dread calling them as it's a long painful process ending normally with them asking me to use their version of the speed test that shows a completely different story than speedtest.net.
