Anyone ever been to Negril?

24 yr old male planning on going to jamaica in a few weeks and looking for a place to stay. Are the all inclusive places worth it? I want to be around people my age and don't mind the party atmosphere, but not sure I can justify paying $250-300 extra per night. Also what's the best way to get from Montego Bay?

I booked a trip to Negril in a few months. Going to Catcha Falling Star which is someplace i have wanted to go for years and years.

This wont help your situation much but the wife and I went to Couples Swept Away - Negril for our honeymoon and loved it. All inclusive, trips to the town for shopping, tons of activities to keep us busy. It was pretty affordable as well, and they had nearby resorts that'd probably suit your needs better. Seemed most resorts had shuttles from the airport.

I've been to Negril on my honeymoon. However I stayed at the couples resort, which doesn't help you much. Outside of the all-inclusive compounds Jamaica is a shithole, so unless you plan on going to HEDO, I wouldn't go there for vacation. If you do go, the all-inclusive places will shuttle you from the airport.

For a single person I would recommend either cancun, or playa del carmen in Mexico. Its cheaper, safer (compared to jamaica), and the beaches are much better. If you go mid/late summer you have the chance of seeing turtles hatching and you can go swim with the whale sharks (highly recommended, awesome experience).

It is the party town but since I hate AI's and their crappy confinements I won't make any recommendations.
