Anyone ever go Alaskan dog sledding?

So I'm going on a cruise this Friday from Anchorage to Vancouver, and there's 3 stops along the way. After skimming the activities, I never thought I'd pay $500 for just 1 event, but then I thought "when am I ever going to get the chance to do this?"

So, worth it?

EDIT: http://www.alaskahelicoptertours.com/

Tour includes approximately 30 minutes of roundtrip flight time, approximately 30 minutes with the mushers at the dog camp located on the Juneau Icefield within the Tongass National Forest and approximately 30 minutes of dog sledding for a total time of 1 hour 30 minutes. Allow up to 30 minutes for transportation from dock departure to dock, viewing our safety video, outfitting of glacier boots and safety vests.

If you put "w/ poll" in the thread title, you might get more votes.

I've never been but have always wanted to go. $500 sounds like a lot unless the flight to the glacier is incredible.

if I had enough money saved up where I had $500 of disposable, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Typically when I go on vvacation I try to bring A LOT more $$ than I really seriously think I need. That way when things like this come up, I won't be scarce on cash if I do it. When I was in Aruba for 4 nights I brought $1300 thinking I wouldn't spend that much at all. But come the last day, I was running low. But the thing is, I didn't hesitate to do a lot of stuff that I just never have done before and rarely get the opportunity to do. When I go to Cancun in July for a week, I'm trying to bring around $2K if possible but I don't know if I'll be able to save that much. I already plan on swimming with the Dolphins, which is like $100 for 30 minutes. But I mean, whenever else will I ever be able to do that again?

So my point is ... I say go for it! Like you said, when else will you ever have the opportunity to do that again? Just remember to take many photos!

Good point and I do the same thing...but this cruise goes from Sat->Sat and has a casino and some other activities I'm doing with the family. You can bet that if I'm up $500 I'm going, but I can certainly be down...A LOT.

$500 is a lot, and only for 30 minutes of sledding time? like others have said though, if you dont think you'll ever have the opportunity to do it again, go for it.

personally, i hope to one day go to greenland and do one of those multi day sledding tours.

I lived there for 33 years. Had plenty of opportunities to ride sleds. Didn't interest me even when it was free.
