don't be scared, you are jumping tandem, right?
wonderfull experience, make sure your goggles are on tight!

if you are jumping alone, then, by all means, BE SCARED!

no seriously, if you are jumping solo, I'm sure you'll have instructors flyin beside you, so you can't screw up

don't break your ankles when you land!

Don't worry about it, anybody here who's gone obviously lived to tell about it.

That's pretty good odds.

I've had two chances to do it and I passed both of them up.. If I ever decided to go through with it, I'd like.. Be sure to pack up three back-up parachutes. My only fear is the parachute not functioning properly.

yes i would be going tandem...

if i went solo, i think i would freeze and die. hahahaha

i get scared if i'm higher than 1 story. when i'm on my g/f's balcony and i look down, i freak out (she lives on 2nd story). i'm a wuss! maybe that's because when i was younger, i fell 2.5 stories in Joshua Tree (and lived to tell about it!)

How much does sky diving usually cost per person?
and is it possible to go solo on the first jump, or is tandem required?

LOL, skydiving is the watered down version of parachuting... try military style sometime, a T-10C or MC-1-B/C chute, with about 140 lbs. of gear strapped to ya on a night jump. Even better when you try MFF (military free-fall), either HALO or HAHO (high-altitude, low opening, or high-altitude, high opening) style jumps. Doing a combat jump from about 31,000 feet is the only way to travel

You should go... it's a great experience, i did about 100 jumps while i was in, and with no incidents. Seen tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of jumps, without seeing any major equipment malfunctions. Worse thing that ever happened to me on a jump, was afterwards... i was humping my way back in to the assembly point, and stepped into a gopher hole hidden by tall grass. Go for it sometime, there's nothing like it

whoa, glenn1, you jumped at 31k?
with a round chute?

nice free-fall, eh?
how long did you float?

lucky bastard!

<edit> 199.99 ain't bad, you are not getting ripped by much, if any
I say it's worth it, let us know if you think so after!

jumps at that altitude are extremely rare, especially if you're doing HAHO, since they literally have to clear out about 100 sq. miles or so of airspace to do one... it's a pretty good infil method, since you can essentially drift for several dozen kilometers that way... nope, use a ramair chute, usually a MC-4 with an AOD. And to be honest, MFF scared me sh!tless. i preferred a low slow jump, say at 500 feet. Much shorter ride, but a lot more challenging....

glenn1: Is HALO.
I have 13 jumps about 5 were with a static line, the other were skydives.
I got scared the first time jumping on my own cause it felt weird, the sensation of falling, then i realized what a rush it was, and it was a good one.

I did it once when I was on vacaction in New Zealand, what a rush. I would LOVE to do it again. I was thinking about taking my dad for his birthday until I saw how expensive it is to tandem skydive here. A lot more expensive than in New Zealand (which was made even better by the great exchange rates).
