Dude, thats like elementary schoool stuff. I remember seeing these at the local KayBee toys back when I was 10 or so. They're fun, not sure if you are into seeing lil things swimming around, might rather have some flashy fish than these.

Kyle: Wow! That's a lot of seamen, Cartman.
Cartman: Yeah, I bought all that I could at this bank, and then I got the rest from this guy Ralph in an alley.
Stan: That's cool.
Cartman: Yeah, and the sweet thing is, the stupid asshole didn't even charge me money for it. He just made me close my eyes and suck on a hose.

I had some. They grew, and grew... eventually died, and smelled like rotting fish.

the water does get quite rank. then you just throw it all out and vow never to get sea monkeys again.

They're just brine shrimp (as already mentioned) Nothing special about them. Hobbyists around the world raise them for fish food...

the whole 'special' part is that they enter cryptobiosis (thanks wiki), meaning the eggs can be dry and spring to life when water is added. Something that is rare in creatures of the water.

I did...they didn't make citys or play or have families. I was sorely disappointed. They were just little worms with a gillion legs.

My kid got some for his 6th bday. First batch hatched and all but one mysteriously died a few days later (suspicious!). Second hatch is doing pretty good. They're still pretty small, and I'm going to order some of the plasma growth stuff to see what that does.

Those are weird. So big, and they do look like horseshoe crabs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triops

By thoroughly drying the tank in which they are kept after a die-off and then allowing the completely dry tank to sit for at least a month and finally reflooding it with distilled or spring water, another generation of pets is easily generated, as the previous brood will have left eggs in the substrate. This simulates the periodic drying and flooding of the natural habitat of the tadpole shrimp.
