anyone ever send in an Elite for repair (Updated July 9th)

My elite falcon is having graphic anomalies after playing left4dead for awhile. The screen starts turning green/brown. This continues once I get out to the dashboard so it is not game specific.

Anyways, created a repair request and was just curious if anyone has sent in a Falcon Elite and what did you get back in return? (original box? falcon? jasper?)

just all of a sudden the blacks turn green/brown with hints of red. It is like gaming on a SEGA genesis.

EDIT2: Couldn't wait. Went and picked up a Jasper Arcade. Will sell the Elite when it gets returned.

Update 1:


Turn around time was about 10 days to get a return. The return had the SAME freaking problem. It was actually worse as mine would at least run without issue for 30mins or so and then the graphic anomalies would start. This one booted up with graphic problems. blacks were brownish and there were banners of white through the dasboard. I verified it was not the TV or the cables using the Jasper Arcade I purchased.

This was is going back 15mins after getting it in the mail. Kind of pissed as this is my 6th 360 and the 3rd with issues. That is a 50% failure rate.

1. Launch day console went bad after 3 days
2. Replacement Console I eventually sold
3. Bought another pro which I sold after buying console 4.
4. Bought an Elite that went bad after 10 months
5. Bought an Arcade while waiting for console 4 to be repaired
6. Replacement Elite was bad on arrival.


UPDATE 2:

2 weeks later and I have the 2nd replacement. So far so good.

I think most folks these days are getting refurbs of the same console. It gets you a working xbox quicker this way

I've traded an Elite and of course got an Elite back, but I was happy b/c it was a newer version. This was about a year ago though.

I just sent my Elite in a couple weeks ago and got it back. Same model, the Falcon or whatever the second newest is. Or maybe not, it's got 16.5V on the back.
I don't think they make black Jaspers yet though, they probably got a football field full of refurbed black Falcons ready to send out to whoever needs.

Every time I send mine back I hope I'll get one with HDMI, but I've had no luck yet. They seem to like to send you the exact same model you sent in.

you will never get back an HDMI other than by mistake if you sent one with HDMI in.

Microsoft has an opus version essentially a falcon without the hdmi port. its for those with 360s that come in that doesn't not have an hdmi port.

Mine was manf 5/1/2008 so pretty new and has HDMI. It better come back with HDMI as well.

small update. it now happens just sitting on the dashboard. kind of sucks but at least I can game in 30 minute chunks until it is sent in for replacement.

If you send in a Falcon, you will definitely NOT get a Jasper back because they use a different power brick and the connector is different.

When you send in your unit, they have to send you one back that's compatible, but you never send in the power supply or the hard drive/peripherals (and if you do, you probably won't get them back).. so when they send one back, it is probably a refurb, in most cases a newer version than the one you sent in, but still one that's compatible with the one you had in order for your original power supply to function properly.

I sent in an old 20gig model w/o the hdmi and was hoping I'd get a 20gig with hdmi back, but they just sent back one that was a year newer (I had an original release day one), and it still worked with my power unit, but as you can guess, it didn't have hdmi.. so I sold it and bought an Elite and it's worked fairly well since then outside of a few freeze ups.

all adapters work with each newer one, its the newer ones that don't work with the older ones

Actually, you're right.. I take that back. I just got a Jasper Pro model a week ago and we modded it and in our testing used my friend's power brick from his Elite and it worked fine. I didn't realize mine was a Jasper until checking the brick/back of the case but it does appear that they will work with the 175watt brick. It probably wouldn't be a good idea to do it the other way around though.. put a 150watt Jasper psu onto a Falcon.

You probably will not get a Jasper though cause I'm sure that MS still has a ton of the other older refurbs waiting to go out.. unless you sent in a Jasper

heh i had an issue w/MS once similar

i sent in a 360 to get fixed for RRoD.

it came back like 10 or so days later.

i plug it in and turn it on - no video...

it went right back.
