My mother in law used to take the bus from Montreal to DC when Amtrak stopped running the train directly from the Vermont border to DC. Her last trip down when she was in her early 90's we found out that the bus continued south from DC so we got her a ticket to Springfield VA so we wouldn't have to go into DC to pick her up. We emphasized many times to her that when she switched buses in NYC make sure she got on the one to DC-Springfield. Of course she ended up in Springfield MA but they got her on the next bus out, really a lot of bus riding for someone in their 90's.

There is nothing wrong with the bus. This is americs. I have family members that take them all the Time. There are people with money , student or crazy people that ride them. Worst thing can happen if bus breaks down or accident. There are other bus too like megabus. Megabus has business people tide them.

The last time I did it was around 1992 when I went from RI to SD to help a friend move back. I think those were the longest days of my life but I didnt run into any issues and it got me from point A to point B without an issue.

Several times. Coast to coast a couple of times. Ignore the goings on in other seats...and in the stations UNLESS it directly affects/impacts her...she should be fine.

Remind her to keep some wet wipes in her purse in case she is directly impacted.

Yeah, it's stupid fears - but when she isn't in the drivers seat and can blissfully do something else (like be on her phone) it doesn't seem to bother her. Fucking silly overall.

By the way, looking at the pricing of these bus fares, this fucking shit costs MORE than a roundtrip 2.5 hour plane ride. Also the stupid bus stops every 2-3 hours and has tons of 15 min, 30 min, and even 1 hour breaks. That is fucking insane.

Yeah if you live in an area that has affordable air fares the bus hardly makes sense.

Before we got Porter Airlines here, an Air Canada Jazz flight to Toronto was over a grand. So taking the bus made more sense as it was around $100 or so. I don't recall, maybe it was even cheaper.

Now days though you can get to Toronto for under $200 by plane. Even Air Canada lowered their prices now that there is competition. Porter flights get cancelled half the time though.
