One more thing I forgot to mention: I found the volume rocker to be pretty small and a bit more difficult to manipulate. Not impossible or too difficult, but it might require a bit of feeling to make sure you're closer to the edge rather than near the center. You'd think with such a big phone, they wouldn't have issues making the volume rocker large enough.

Here are some more comparison photos with other phones: http://www.droid-life.com/2014/04/29/oneplus-one-hands-on-video-and-gallery/

And another one from me:

I want this phone. I also want it in white, which is a first for me as I usually dislike white colored phones but they made this one look nice.

I'm not very excited for the phone because the specs and price seem too good to be true. When I think about the price of the phone and the fact that a new company is making it, I think there has to be some sort of catch. (shoddy build quality, buttons falling off early in life span, screen/camera failing to work early in life span etc..)

I hope I am wrong however. I'd love to see this become the new standard for pricing and specifications. When the next Nexus phone comes out this is the main phone I'd be comparing it to since they'll likely be the only high spec phones in that price range. If there are no big fiascos with this phone then I could end up buying one around Nexus 6 time.

If the much larger Xiaomi is of any indication, the availability of this is most likely going to be shit.

Production Update:
When we started OnePlus, one of the first things we announced was that our product would be available internationally in Q2 2014. We're well on track of achieving that.

However, after our product announcement, we realized that far more people wanted the One than what we originally anticipated. Over the past few days, we have been frantically adjusting our production schedule to make sure that as many people possible can buy the One, as soon as possible.

In our updated plan, we prioritized for two aspects; time to market and availability of the high capacity model (in that order). We now know that people want the 64GB Sandstone Black far more than the 16GB Silk White, but we also know that more than everything, people just want to get their hands on the device as soon as possible.

What we've done is dramatically increase the amount of 64GB Sandstone Black models in our production plans, while producing 16GB Silk White as long as they don't delay the time to market for Sandstone Black.

Our production schedule is as follows:
Ready now - 100 for phone smashers
Mid to late May - Larger batch 16GB Silk White for the first batch of invites
Early June - Larger batch 64GB Sandstone Black
Later in June - Increased general availability, people who want it should be able to get an invite without much trouble in June

So late June for me then. Shame the color of the phone is tied to its storage amount, I really want a white one but I'd be dumb not to get the 64GB model. Maybe I can trade backs with someone who has the white one.

They have not said when the "Style Swap" covers will be available, but there will a white one so you can switch out the back cover with it the kevlar, wood, denim, etc.

Forums at OnePlus are so cluttered now with useless information as any information that gets out is divisive and half the users agree with it and the others don't so both sides keep posting threads to incite the other.

I have a Note 3 so I'm not in a rush to buy one anymore and can wait until stock is available.

Back when I "thought" it would be a 5.5" screen in a 5" body I wanted one quickly but now it's more of a side grade to my Note 3. CM 11s will be an upgrade over TW but the hardware itself is on par with the Note 3.

^ those forums sound like a bunch of 15 year olds screaming their heads off. I do wonder if I was like that when I first joined Anandtech Forums

Appreciate the early hands on. I do wonder if your feeling that it's not as ginormous as a Note 3 is just excitement over the phone. Spec wise and in picture, it certainly seems just as substantial in hand.

Its pretty similar to the Note3 in size.

The shape and texture of the back could well give it a different feel in the hand though.

Also button placement matters. The Note has its buttons way down at the very bottom, but someone who uses on screen buttons will feel more at ease, especially with one handed operation.

you can already get Lenovo's Vibe Z for around the same price with similar dimensions (broader, but shorter and thinner), a much lower weight (really impressive) and an F/1.8 camera. I'm not sure if its modem will work everywhere, though, and I think the Chinese version you can order only has 3G. Felt fast enough when I had it, though.

Doesn't look too bad, but yeah it doesn't look like LTE will be compatible in the US. It's also limited to 16gigs only with no card slot which is a bummer

They are now giving contest winners the option to donate their phones instead of smashing.

Supposedly they got 140k entries so chances of being selected are slim.

After doing more reading on this phone my excitement has risen by quite a bit.

It seems that people who get the phone get invites to give out to people that wanna buy one for themselves. Can we do a thread for that here?

I don't think I've been this excited for a phone yet but I was in Shenzhen these past few days and I decided to trek out to their office in the pouring rain. I met up with Carl and he gave me a nice tour of the facility. It feels like a nice young SF startup except in China. Fun group.

I ended up getting a few goodies too from them including a water bottle, a bar of soap, and a notebook. Got to play with the OPO a bit more also.

I just got turned on to this phone. Pretty much exactly what I've been looking for. Only drawback is lack of expandable storage. My current phone contract doesn't expire until October so I would expect better availability by then.

Engadget's review

I really want this phone, but I don't feel the desire to jump through hoops for an early invite. I patiently await the end of the June.

Actually that's the point.

There are currently 100 phones that they are doing for giveaway. (Smash your phone). At the end of June, 16 GB will be release for people who hold invites ONLY. At the end of July, 64GB will be released for people who hold invites ONLY. No word on general availability without invites.

So meh.
