Cool - please keep the updates coming.

Part of me no longer cares that much about this phone - when it first was announced as an absolute flagship in a comparatively tiny body at 1/2 the price - who wouldn't like that?

Now it's a very good phone, but eclipsed in many ways by the LG G3 and the phones to come late summer/fall.

I'd spend $300 more for the G3 if I wasn't waiting to see what the N4 looked like - at the end of the day, it's not really that much more and gadgets are gadgets.

IF it were 4.5" or even 4.7" with the same specs, it would have remained relevant as a high-spec phone in a small phone body (something severely lacking right now).

Combined with all the availability shennanigans, it's really hard to maintain interest in this phone

More thoughts:

- Double tap to wake is cool, but its too easy to activate. If I pick up my phone that counts as one tap. One more accidental tap on the screen = wake. In many ways I liked those hacked slide2wake solutions in the GS1, GS2 days more. I imagine this would be very easy to implement IF a developer gets their hands on this phone.

- Mic is weak for "Ok Google" activation. Have to shout at the phone or hold it right to my face. I pinged Francois whatever-his-last-name-is... Supercurio from the CM team about this already.

Anyway, not gonna touch this phone for a few more days. I'm going to EDC where reception is likely crap. Don't know about the 3G - LTE refarm situation in Vegas, but any chance that they throw up some 1900 LTE there means the OPO won't pick it up. I'll bring my trusty Nexus 5. Plus. Desert = dust = scratches.

they tease the oneplus one, then subtly hint at the Oppo 7a (US version in our case),
$50 more for nearly the same device from 1+1's parent company.

This thing's battery is terrific. I have SOT of 2 hours right now and I'm sitting at 52%. I ran around using this thing as a hotspot at Google I/O too because somehow the NFC failed to work with the scavenger hunt so I had to tether my Nexus 5.

I know 2 hours isn't great but remember this is a conference and cellular networks are congested. I'm pretty sure I'd be down to 20-30% on my Nexus 5 at this rate. I've never used the phone this liberally.

I submitted a bug report on double tap to wake for the added-in version on Nexus5. Show_p1984 hadn't implemented a timer or had a buggy implementation for the timer between two taps. You could tap once, wait 10 seconds, tap again, and it would wake. This is fixed now. Or perhaps you're complaining about the 1+1 implementation

The whole, you need an "invite" to buy one is ridiculous! I'm out!

Yes and the fact that the G3 put a 5.5" screen in a body that is a lot smaller makes the Oneplus look hideous to me. It's the size of a Note3 with a smaller screen. Honestly it would have been a great device if it released back in May or early June when the first couple reviews tricked out and before the LG G3 reveal. LG really schooled everyone on how to fit a 5.5" screen in a device provided the release version doesn't have any major issues with the hardware because of this squeeze. That and the fact that the early software suffered many issues like poor call quality, camera quality that wasn't that great and needed an update that has supposedly come since then make me feel that most people are simply better off with one of the major devices from HTC, LG, Samsung, or Sony who have their software working from day 1. It seemed like a good idea, but there's a few things that at this point hold it back IMO even at the price they ask.

Doesn't really matter when most of us can't even get one. I got bored waiting on it and bought a lg g2. Much better phone then my note 2 and I'll probably stick with lg for a while now.

Beginning to slightly regret the purchase. Nexii phones, although not the best, and with their flaws, get the latest software always. The new Google Search looks pretty awesome and brings in Always On listening (when screen is ON). However it seems a bit bugged on the OPO. I'm betting the Nexus 5 probably has it working better.

It's kinda like my GS2 purchase. Great hardware, but in the end you struggle with having the latest updates.

Starting to get annoyed with this whole invite thing too. I was excited about this phone a few months back but general sales supposed to open up in July? This reminds me of the nexus 4 release. they are going to loose a bunch of customers because of it.

which means limited aftermarket support so you're hope lies with the mfr

I didn't think of that. What about cases and such? I know people like to talk about a phone's materials etc but even with the Glass Sony phones and Aluminum/Glass iPhones people always stick them in a case that I've seen. Are there going to be manufacturers making cases and such for the one plus?

There's plenty of 3rd party stuff. Not as much as say a GS5, but Nikhil and Orzly have glass protectors made already. There's plenty of 3rd party cases on Amazon too.

Does this work on Verizon? I was set to get an LG G3 but it has shit battery life and I already wasn't very happy w/ the 5.5" screen size. I wish this thing had a 5" screen, that would be nice.

Umm, the thing isn't even out yet, how do you know how bad the battery life is on the Verizon variant?
