Apparently I'm blocked from creating a new thread over at one plus forums lol. I wanted to make one asking if you can set up an rma for pickup of the phone if you are not gonna be in your home state. Apparently one plus sends a courier service to pick up the phone from you for shipping to China.

Yes, its fast. I don't know why you suggested earlier that the mfg date will be after your purchase date

Because I've seen people reporting that their orders were processing for a while and they got units made after their order date.

I'm probably going to go for a soft bumper case too if the flip cover doesn't prove practical. More accessories should pop up as the units arrive.

I've submitted an RMA ticket for a refund or exchange. Whichever they plan on doing.

Leaving Friday for vacation so I'll take the phone with me. I dont think they will reply to me for the two weeks I'll be gone so we will see.

Awesome phone, wish I could use it but I can't bother to look at the screen like that, which just looks dirty if you try reading anything on it.

I lucked out, scored a perfect unit. Very impressed so far.

That's good enjoy it. I'm sure I'll decide if I want a replacement or refund while they take their sweet old time. It seems completely random as to weather it will be good or not.

I wonder when the next wave of invites will be

Probably sometime in August or after. Saw a notice on one plus forums from on of the support people saying the yellow is part of how the lcd placement was designed and that it was a design choice, so a replacement won't do anything.

He mentions people can get a refund in 14 days and send the phone back themselves. That's if it doesn't take 14 days for support to respond to you.

They mention the issue can be replicated on many other devices but I have not seen it and I've owned lots of android devices and iPhones too.

Ugh, so the screens are yellow on these things. This seems to be a common issue with a certain adhesive used to join the glass/digitizer to the LCD panel. I remember Apple had a big issue with this on the iPad 3. You've got to think there's a better way to do it.

I have had some success on other devices using a heat gun on low to reflow the adhesive. However, your mileage may vary. You have to be very careful when doing it as well, so you don't crack the glass or damage the underlying electronics.

I'm still interested in the OnePlus One but frankly, the whole invite based system is stupid. Makes me wonder how sustainable their business model is in the long run.

I'm in Philadelphia. But I'll be in Dallas soon for two weeks. I'm not worried since they take long to respond, and now they let you send the phone back yourself. I'll take it with me and send it if they get back to me.

If I opt for a replacement I hope the shipping won't be more than $50 back from China. I'll probably pay $15 to ship it back if they approve me.

ooh didn't realize you would need to ship this back all the way to china. I wonder why they can't just process these in the warehouse here and have replacement devices readily available.

Well there is one thread over there where one guy did their first RMA. OP took about two weeks to reply and then issue an rma ticket. Then another week before approved. He then had to schedule with dhl to ship to China for $55.

He opted for the refund as he would also need to pay the shipping back on the replacement and taxes as well from China I think to Canada.

But then I also read some posts where users got no response, they contacted PayPal and OP finally got back to them. PayPal had the user ship it back to California. So that is cheaper but that was for a refund.

They don't have a planned system in place. Depends who from CS you get that will tell you where to ship.

Wasn't this old? Like a month old or so? Carl from OnePlus already mentioned that you can now ship back to your distribution center. I've heard reports of multiple US users shipping back to the Rosemead facility already.

Yes it might have been I didn't check the date on that thread since it was like 11 pages long. I also mentioned a page back, someone over there said now you can ship it yourself to the nearest warehouse for a refund.

That guy Pete Lei also mentioned a replacement won't be any different since the screen and placement of LCD light was a design choice. But I've seen users lately get phones with no yellow so I'm not sure what that means.

Which is why support usually denies the replacement for yellow screen. I think right now they can say this because of the invite system since its not out publicly for purchase. I may opt out for a replacement due to this because I like the phone. But it worries me if anything else were to go wrong.

if mine is a egg and they give me run around to RMA then I will just ebay it.

I thought about that but the eBay fees are high. Each time I try to sell a phone on there I have to list it multiple times because it's either a fake winner or someone who doesn't pay and eBay took negative feedback away.

Selling on Swappa is hard too since the first question people ask is if it has the yellow band. If your area is not crappy Craigslist is probably better.

Amazing large file transfer speeds. Seriously, blows the doors of any phone I tried in the past.
