They won't RMA for this. It's as designed they say. Especially a PITA from this company. Hoping the OTA helps out or else I already have a support ticket that has been open 3 days asking for a refund.
OTA gives a less yellow look overall but I don't think its that big of a difference if you're talking about the bottom.

They say that's as designed? What a load of BS. I'll gladly pay double for a phone that has some actual support behind it.

Do you have it already? Going to see if it helps tonite if it's available. Otherwise I've learned my lesson buying from companies without support centers in the US.

One half of my screen is tinted/different and the upper section is white. I don't have overall yellow like some other do.

@Megatomic: Since I see we've bumped into each other on OP forums, lemme just say this for the OTA update:

- I'm running CM Nightlies, so I can't run the update.
- I got excited treating it like a full image like CM, but its only incremental updates. I wanted to try out the new camera app, but it looks like I'll have to wait.

Regarding the bug fixes:

- The OK Google fix seems to be pretty good. I think the initial fix coupled with some other mic adjustments really improved it. Its just as good as my Nexus 5 in my 15 minutes of testing.

- The earpiece volume is increased, though I have yet to try it in a noisy environment. The speakerphone is louder, although I'm not sure if its as loud as it can be (music can be quite loud for example).

- Microphone for speaker is definitely better. It was unusable before but I can put the phone on the desk and talk now.

- I don't know how much of an issue the proximity sensor thing was to you, but I only had a few ghost wakes in my pocket before. The music thing was more annoying so I turned it off already. I only found my torch to be on maybe 2-3 times so its not that bad. With the fix I haven't tried it enough since the commit is only about a week old, but I haven't had ghost wakes since. However, you can definitely verify but covering the top of the phone with your fingers and trying gestures. They won't work. Let go and it works. Not sure what that translates to in typical pocket use and if it fixes everything.

All of those fixes besides the camera fix (because that's 11S only) have already been merged into CM. Since I'm running nightlies, yeah I can tell the screen is less warm, but the fix they mention in this OTA is specifically to deal with the overall screen tone. Its not going to change the fact that there's backlighting issues.

I imagine because the screen is already somewhat yellow, the exaggerated portion at the bottom is more yellow. I think if they calibrated the screen to be overly cool (blueish tones), then maybe that area would be a blue band....

Honestly I can't really pass judgement that well because for me its mostly a non-issue given I use the soft keys, and in order to properly analyze it, one would have to take before and after photos in controlled conditions.

Well I have before photos. I'll take some after. If this doesn't help then nothing will and it will always be noticeable to me.

I have read that the ROM can be updated manually thru the stock recovery mode. Does this force the phone's memory to be wiped or does sideloading act just like the OTA update?

If you do sideload you need to do a wipe. So you need twrp or a custom recovery if you dont know the fastboot commands to wipe the correct partitions. You loose all your contacts and settings this way.

Unless you just want to sideload it on top of your current OS but I never do that. Always wipe.

I don't know how people say they have yellow banding and don't notice it. I guess mine must be pretty bad because it makes my screen look like a wet page out of an old book. My screen is not uniform white at all.

You are being far too OCD about more than likely.

I've seen three 1+1s in person now and all 3 were about the same, very minimal at the very bottom. You can only notice it when its completely white at the bottom too.

I have seen pics of worst ones on the internet though - but they really do seem to be quite rare.

I think all of them have this banding, but the majority are probably minimal like mine.

With mine, I can't even capture it using a S4 Camera. I might dig out my DSLR tonight and get in a dark room and try to capture it.

If I was being so OCD I'm sure the past six phones I had before this one would have bugged me about something too. I want to see one color. Like my HTC m7 my screen is uniform. My one plus, you can tell its two different colors in person.

Anyone have any issues with the touch screen going nuts?

I'm still completely stock, so I think it may be a software issue.

A few times now, I will be browsing the internet or something, and my phone goes nuts - opening tabs, scrolling itself, clicking links, etc. The buttons on the bottom become unresponsive, and a restart fixes the phone.

I've had the phone about 2.5 weeks now and this has happened 3 times I believe.

Actually, I just "experimented" a bit and it works fine. My apps are now updating after rebooting.

I used the stock recovery. I flashed the .zip file that I downloaded from Android Police. So easy.

More about the yellow band, I want to say the overall tone is better now so its not really a yellow band but a darker band? My phone might've also gotten better over time since I've been spending a lot of time outside (ugh I got sunburned last Friday).

But you know what? All of that is just anecdotal evidence which is meaningless because I didnt' do any apples to apples comparison photos.

Oh ok hope it didn't clutter your device or cause any issues. I always do a wipe if I'm going to install something as a new Rom. I assume that's how they will have it downloadable on the CM software site soon.
I'm always used to wiping before flashing Roms though.

Well then I should be able to tell a difference too.

My intention wasn't to call you out, I should have worded it better. Once you know its there, some people just can't forget about it.

And when color is involved on the bottom of the screen (meaning the background isn't white), I can't notice anything.

I'm also not defending OnePlus - This shouldn't be happening. But I'm hardly going to send my phone back or sell it over something I may notice once a week. But that's just me and my phone.

The OTA has a fix I think for this touch issue.

I'm on the latest OTA - I've only had to do 1 update since I turned the phone on for the 1st time.

Are there any ROMS out there now worth switching to from CM? How is the AOSP rom in comparison?

I don't see any commits yet in Gerrit. I don't think the touch issue is addressed yet. Its quite annoying IMO.

Edit: I see the temporary fix on AUG-5, but I found that to be a placebo. It doesn't really fix it even if its temporary. The issue to me is still prevalent.

Oh no worries I didn't take it like that. I would have noticed and probably been just as picky if my other phones
had a similar issues.

There is an update coming. It's r30 in the software build settings. So if you are on that you have the latest.

There is an official aosp Rom but it's not really gpe if that is what you are looking for. Team gummy on xda has some Roms for this phone. I work on side projects with one of the developers from that team so I can ask him if there is anything good out so far.

Finally got mine. It has a tiiiiiiiiiiiny bit of yellow banding on the bottom, but it's almost imperceptible and I have to actually stare at the screen on a plain white background for a good few seconds before I even begin to notice it. For me not a big deal at all, will try leaving it in the sun when we get some sunny weather.

Compare w/ and w/o on-screen buttons and let me know how that goes.

The one thing I most wanted in the list of fixes was the brighter lit hardware buttons. But I don't see any difference on my device. Oh well. I do like the colder screen calibration though.

My order is still "processing" since I ordered it later in the day Friday - probably won't receive it til Thursday if it ships tomorrow.

With the new update today, what steps should I take to make sure I'm on the latest ROM before I start customizing, adding my accounts, etc?

This is without on-screen buttons, so I'm looking at the very bottom edge of the screen. I honestly wouldn't even call it an issue. It's so difficult to see (on mine) that I would never consider RMA'ing it.

Ok, something I just noticed post flash. Prior to the update my second largest drain on my battery was Google Play Services. Now it's not even in the list. I'll keep an eye on this and report my own anecdotal "evidence" over the next few days.
