The specs are amazing. The unveil is this month so hopefully the phone itself looks good. The design is the make it or break it for this phone since everything else is spot on.

They definitely are hitting all of the high points for me and it really does seem to be a Find 7 like phone hardware wise (which helps keep the cost down as Oppo is their manufacturing partner). They continue to say that it will be priced at under $400 which is remarkable. I plan on picking one up on release to use and see how it stacks up against my Note 3.

At this point, the worst thing they can do is take all of this fantastic hardware and put a sub-par display on it. I really hope they don't skimp.

I would be really surprised if JDI decides to start making 5.5" 1080p crap displays.

I honestly think this thing will crappy. Seems too good to be true, especially for the price. But I'm hoping to be proven wrong.

I don't get how they can price below $400 when the Find 7 (even the 1080p model) is $500. Maybe they're ok with just barely breaking even. I'm also not sure how Oppo is ok with this given that it will cannibalize sales.

This is like if Google made the Nexus 5 as good as the G2 but for $350. I realize they clearly had to make some cuts to not piss off LG.

Assuming the hardware and software come together to make a nice package, at the stated price my only worry is that this thing will immediately sell out at launch and take forever to get back in stock.

Looks good but I wonder about the feel and build quality. I'm assuming it's gsm only? Would someone from Verizon be able to use it? Unlocked boot loader and it could run more than cm, possible sense Roms too.

No chance of it coming to Verizon.

So slightly taller and thicker than the Note 3 if those measurements are accurate. Decently narrower but this is clearly phablet sized.

Yeah, at 5.5" is hard to expect much more, maybe LG can pull it of with the G3 and maybe if Motorola makes a phablet.

Yeah, it's huge. Was hoping for less top/bottom bezels but it has even MORE bottom bezel than the note 3.

Still in 2014 I haven't seen anything better than the G2 which you can get a used one for ~$300

I would be in the market if Verizon took unlimited away and I needed to go to an mvno provider which accepts gsm phones.

Well I wasn't criticizing it, but obviously they're not breaking any new ground screen to body wise compared to LG and Samsung or delivering a 5.5" phone in a competitive 5" body size.

But a top of the line spec phablet for $400 is still going to be an insane deal - it feels like what a Nexus phablet would be exactly like.

Still - in hand feel, reliability, and all the little details big OEMs have to sweat still need to proven by a start-up.

Agreed

It's an impressive price given what's in there. It'll still be on my radar if reviews don't show any issues.

Invite-only purchase is kind of a turn off. Making people jump through hoops to get the phone. No thanks.

Hmm - realized that this phone is basically the Oppo 7a with probably better software, though I *think* Oppos are easily flashable. Pretty much identical dimensions, screen, and SOC. Will be interesting to directly compare these two.
