Glad to hear she's ok. Scary.
Back to the phone, which ROM are you running?
Stock, 30O update version.

I could live with that I think. So I guess I need to be rooted to install the kernel then?If you are using the stock ROM then running an OTA will overwrite franco kernel... I believe. then you will have to re flash franco kernel. I believe though I am guessing.

Yesterday my OPO would not pick up a signal until I finally rebooted it. Had a flood of messages come in, apparently my sis-in-law got into a car accident and was taken to the hospital. She's okay, but I really don't like when my phones do this. Last time I had this problem was with the Galaxy S3, so experiencing it again in 2014 is a bit annoying...
I believe its the same fastboot command. Some people just had their recovery overwritten because the Update CM recovery button is checked upon OTA update. That's what caused a flurry of overreaction on the forum. You need to be rooted to flash other kernels. I heard they made it tougher to unlock the boot loader on the 30 ota but I think there is still a way to do it on xda.
I think the toughest part of rooting is getting drivers to work. I think I've found a way, but the documentation is terrible online, and there's very little support to get basic drivers. I mean how would the average Joe know to use the Google USB drivers or whatever?Rooting is so easy on this phone, even easier than nexus phones. I posted a good guide a page or two ago.
I've been having this issue as well - when it looses signal, it seems to be random on whether it picks it back up quickly or not. Most of the time it does, but again right now, it hasn't reconnected in 20 minutes. Rebooting the phone fixed it.
I am in a building of bad strength, but there is always signal (39th floor, midtown Manhattan).
Between the touchscreen issues and signal issues - I do feel a bit like it's a start-up phone, not a known OEM. Don't have these issues on my Note 3 or S4.
The price continues to be the big sell and I'm now a fan of CM, but these are annoyances I haven't seen in phones for a couple years.

Koush has a tool too apparently. It's all just confusing and had I not been following XDA or whatever, I would not know where to go for "official drivers"The Google drivers are awful.
It makes everything else easier, but installing the naked universal driver from xda is not an easier process in and of itself.

I used the drivers from the nexus 4 toolkit that I used to use to automatically unlock + root that phone.... True, That was a PIA in the beginning...but its about 3 fastboot commands and your unlocked and rooted once adb is working.
I put in a support ticket saying i wanted to RMA my phone about 2 days ago. we will see when i get a response.... Not sure if I will go through with it, but the crazy touchscreen freaked me out.
Well, I was about to chime in saying that I've been one of the lucky ones (no yellow screen, no screen issues at all after 2+ weeks) when today I decided I would try to re-root my phone (lost after updating to 3o0) and after rebooting into teamwin I lost all response from the screen. Buttons still worked, just no recognition of tapping the screen. After doing a hard reboot, same issue in CM.
Started freaking out, thinking I phucked the phone and would have to go back to the 4S, I whipped the glass protector off thinking it was screwing up the screen somehow. No difference so into the trash it went . Took 3 more hard reboots to get the screen responding again.
Yea that is weird. Maybe you flashed a version of twrp that isn't fully compatible?
Yeah the price is great, and I like the phone a lot, but bugs involving data connectivity are a big problem in my book, not easily overlooked.
The loosing signal issue and not reconnecting without a reboot is becoming a daily thing for me now - I think it started with the recent OTA as I don't remember it occuring in the previous week.
You guys on T-Mobile?
