I know they opted for optional capacitive buttons, but to me this was a fail move. They could've made the phone smaller given that it's too big for many at 5.5". Not to mention they brought back the menu button lol.

I, personally, like the fact that it's got capacitive buttons.

Any pics around of it with the capacitive buttons lit up and in use?

Any mentions of the radio bands? LTE on T-Mobile and I will buy this in a heartbeat.

On another note, I know I'm someone who's been pushing for a "Nexus" without compromises, well I think this is the real shot across the bow. While OnePlus is also targetting Samsung, Apple, etc. for competition, I think this phone shows Google what should've been done. While I understand that Google may have been tied up with LG and forced to release something that doesn't compete with the OEM's own phones, OnePlus is showing us that not only can they cram all the features in, they can do it for a lower price. This may be the phone for me.

Yeah I'll admit I've been pushing capacitive buttons too, and I like them, but I'm a bit meh about the non-standard layout.

I don't mind capacitive buttons but wow - $349 for 64GB. I didn't realize until recently that it was being built by Oppo so I feel more confident about the build and small details that make or break a phone.

At that price, I'll have to pick it up just to play with it and possibly be a backup phone to my Note 3.

My god, I hate the fact that I'm on Verizon unlimited. If I wasn't, I would have gotten this phone in half a heartbeat.

Man I wish this was on Verizon. I just broke my iphone screen and was looking for a "cheap" new phone and this would have been perfect.

I'd love to get one, but my Nexus 5 isn't exactly old.

Same. And really I haven't needed more than 32 GB even with all of my music and a bunch of movies and a few seasons that I have stored on there. The camera is fine for my use. I dont really understand the obsession after a certain point. I mean, I have a dSLR for serious pictures.

The one and only thing I want in a Nexus-esque android reference phone is a bigger battery. If my nexus had come with a 2600 or 2800mah batter I would be pretty much 100% satisfied.

I'm definitely going to replace my nexus 4 with the 64gb version. Having LTE+better battery life and a better camera and way more storage pretty much checks off all the points I was looking for in an upgrade, and the price seals it. May have to wait a while to get one but at least that will let me see if there are any major problems with it.

Odd that it goes from 16GB to 64GB, for only $50 more there's zero reason to get the 16GB model. But who cares, fantastic pricing! Now I probably have to wait until July to actually buy one lol.

at&t uses bands 4 and 17 and it supports both

Damn almost good enough to leave Verizon and go att mvno or pre paid.
I'll wait until they take away my unlimited data first.

Cheers. The layout doesnt bother me, its something you get used to in a few days at most.

That said, I wouldnt be at all surprised if you can change the functions of the buttons this being a CM phone.

Its looking like a great phone TBH, I'd like to see some reviews first before getting to excited though.

Phone is too big and they either need to get rid of the capacitive buttons, or make a version for those that don't want them. So much for their "Never Settle" campaign. This phone still has compromises in many aspects.

Also not much of an upgrade from my Nexus 5. Maybe if they make a SnapDragon 805 version the same size of a Moto X or Nexus 5, with wireless charging, and without capacitive buttons I would like.

I think if you're a person that likes the size of Note 3(and other phones now in the "phablet" category including the HTC One M8), and hate TouchWiz/Sense; then there is almost no reason for you not to get this phone.
However I'm a person that hates those large phones so that's an automatic black mark.

This phone doesn't support T-Mobile's new LTE Band 12 = instant no buy for me. That goes for any phone released in the year 2014.
Does this phone fully support T-Mobile's HSPA+ network? If you can't pickup a 4G LTE signal from T-Mobile, or you don't live in one of their re-farmed AT&T spectrum; you're pretty much done for?
This same situation happened last year with the HTC One Developer edition and HTC One GPe devices; and I know people that bought into it on T-Mobile and it sucked for them.

GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/4/7/17/38/40

I think this phone is an excellent upgrade for those coming from a Nexus 4.

Turn off the damn buttons and you can have your soft buttons. The chin of this isn't particularly huge anyway when you look at the HTC One (M8) that so many fall over themselves to say the chin is not really that huge and is actually necessary.

I wish the phone were smaller though. Considering it's unlikely I'll be able to get an invite, I'll just have to put it on the backburner.

If they removed those damn capacitive buttons that I will never use, the phone can be smaller for those who are going to enable the soft buttons anyway.

The phone is quite obviously not for people that want a smaller phone, its a weird thing to criticize it for. There doesnt seem an excessive amount of wasted space on the phone. It seems a perfectly acceptable size for a phone with a 5 1/2 inch screen.

Also RE the buttons you can turn off the capacitive ones and just use on screen ones. That seems the perfect solution, if there were just on screen ones other people (like me) would be bitching about that. As the bottom bezel doesnt look that big even with the option of the capacitive buttons, again, I see this as a non issue.

I'd question how much smaller they could make it by leaving off the capacitive keys. Theres always going to be some top/bottom bezel regardless of whether theres capacitive buttons or not. May as well let that bottom bezel have some use rather than being dead space.
