Ok, so it's just opening up ordering to everyone regardless of having an invite. I guess I was confused by the pre-ordering nomenclature since I'm used to it meaning that there are 0 units available currently and then many will be available at some future official release date.

Yea but I'm sure there will be a wait time until they gather total preorders and then send them out. It's only open for one hour so they must have a batch set up already.

Judging by how long they take to answer to a Cs ticket, I imagine they would have problems if tons of people placed orders when they have a limited production facility.

Its a Chinese sales tactic. Xiaomi does that. They call them fire sales.

The process they're using is engineered to artificially increase sales by creating perceptions of a "shortage", or "limited" time frame among consumers.
This is nothing new.

No. They have said that an invite let's you skip to the front of the line.

They control how many invites are in the wild so they should have appropriate stock on hand to fulfill invite orders or they just delay pre-orders if a flood of invite orders come in.

In case anyone is Ok with a used OPO, there is a member selling a 64gb for $375 shipped and it comes with the Diztronic case and Orzly protector mentioned above. He bought it on 9/28 and has 44-0-0 heat.

I'm actually considering it but will wait to see if he drops the price more.

BTW, I am liking the phone but its not really anything special though and doesn't even come prerooted. The lack of driver support is frustrating too. You would think the CM team would focus on something simple like good drivers. Maybe ship it with a toolkit?

What do you mean? Both my win7 and win8 computers recognized my OPO with no issue. I was able to xfer files back and forth manually and also by using WMP. What am I missing?
