Yeah, that's a big turnoff to me too.I wonder when they will act like a real company selling products to consumers and stop with the BS and just let people buy the phone
I'll drop it off the balcony at work if I get chosen.
Well, maybe not the 925 mentioned above, but mostly yes.Unless your phone doesn't work you'd make more money simply reselling it and buying the One Plus with said money.
The odds of being selected are very slim given they are only offering 100 for $1. Still, this is really REALLY stupid. Unless your phone doesn't work you'd make more money simply reselling it and buying the One Plus with said money.
This is a really fucking stupid promo.
I signed up (I can find a local phone for nothing on Craigslist I figured) and there is a list of choices for the phone you will smash. It appears to be mostly flagships from 2013 and 2014 with a few 2012 entries.

eh depends on the phone. a perfect condition unlocked LG G2 sells for about $400
decent used ones go for about $250-300 which is how much the one plus one will be selling for.
It's not just about the cost, it's about being guaranteed a phone. It's still stupid but if it really was the perfect phone for me I'd consider it. Who knows if I could get $350 out of my phone the way I treat it.
Just take out the battery before you smash it so it doesn't explode.
Again, this is all pretty much a moot point because we are talking about 100 people here. A better promo would have been to simply offer this phone to 100 people via a random selection and get rid of this 'smashing' nonsense.
Blu uses crap CPUs in most of their phones and don't offer LTE either correct? I've looked at them before in person and couldn't justify buying it because the CPU was so slow and the ram was low on it.

Are you in marketing? I am guessing no...

Not really because that wouldn't have got anywhere near the amount of attention that this has.
Do not act condescending towards me. Android Central has an editorial echoing my feelings. A promo randomly selecting 100 people is better than this BS.
Pfft, you don't like it? Fine, don't participate. But the promotion is obviously working, the hype for this phone is pretty crazy. I don't think they are going to suddenly not do the promotion because you think it's stupid...
But a lot of the attention to this promo is negative.
And I think the hype around this phone is large enough that it really did not need this added element to it.
Announce you'll offer 100 free phones via a random selection and they'll get a ton of entries.
Meh. People always find something to bitch about on the internet
Its stuff like this thats building the hype. The phone is just a rebadged Oppo 7a with CM preflashed on it (not that thats a bad thing the Oppo 7 and 7a look like excellent phones) but you dont see as much about them in the predd.
Give-aways are OK but people are talking about this more than a give-away... like this conversation.
I simply don't agree. A new unproven company is starting off on the wrong foot. It may mean nothing in due time, but I'm just one of many who think this is a bad idea.
