Anyone fit a 120mm fan in the front of an Enlight 7237 case?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has mounted a 120mm fan in the front of their Enlight 7237 case? I am mainly looking for slightly more airflow than the 30CFM 80mm fan in there now, but with lower noise. I've heard of people putting 120mm fans in the front of their cases with some Dremel action, but I wanted to possibly see some pictures and hear of any problems associated with this.

I also plan on running 7V to the 120mm fan to drop the airflow and noise some. Only concern I have is dropping the airflow TOO much. I did the 7V thing to a 30CFM 80mm fan and it barely put out any air. I'd guess less than 18-20CFM easy, maybe below 15CFM. So I'm trying to decide if I should get maybe a 70CFM 120mm fan, or something like a 90-100CFM fan and then hope I get around 40CFM and low noise when I run 7V to it.

Anyway, I'm tired and rambling. If you guys could post up pictures or comments if you've done this, I'd be very grateful.

I haven't done it in an enlight, but have done this. The grinder bit on something like a dremel does wonders. Just marked the circle with a pencil, grind to that line.

I had the same problem and went with the biggest 92mm I could find.

It turns out that if you go with 120mm, it takes out the place where the front bezel snaps in at the bottom.

So I went with NMB 92mm that does 76cfm. They are a bit load though.

Might drop the v a little....we will see.

what HardwareAddicted said. there is just no real way to do so. UNLESS, you mount the fan away from the front, say some space back so it does not get in the way of the snap and use a duct of some sort.

I used a jig saw to cut the hole and as previously mentioned proceded to cut out the metal for the front bezel hook. Oh well it makes it easier to get the bezel on and off. Sometime I'm going to get around to drilling out those too small holes in the bezel to increase the air-flow some more.

As for speed of the fan, I jigged up a little circuit to control the fan based on temperature. I used a thermistor that I mount in the air flow off of the processor heat sink. If the temp goes up the fan speeds up.

Anyone have pictures of this? I'm sure it can be done. Is the bezel just sort of hanging there with this setup? Is a 90mm fan best? Show us what you have done...

Def,

Check out what I did, not quite the flow of a High Output 120mm but it works great. For details see my web page, its listed in my profile.

I put one in my 7237. It was a ac unit that I plugged into the wall socket. Had to modify the faceplate. Took a drill bit to it and drill 100+ holes. Used Air conditional foam and carefully cut and glued it to the front. Serious fannage.

I've since replaced it with a 3DCool Tornado 1000 custom overclockers' case.

I have a 120mm opening in the front of my case, HardwareAddicted is right 120mm will get in the way from the front brazel slapping in properly.
So what i did was mount it a little higher, but in doing so i loose the internal 3 1/2 drive which i wasn't using anyways. Now that brazel snaps in perfect cause that ridge is still there.

Heres some pics:
gizzo.8m.com

I didn't mount a 120mm fan here but its possible too (i took 120mm from another case and tested it) I just opened it up to have no restriction for my quiet 80mm fan that sits in the middle of the case.

Yes, it will fit. I reduced the speaker plastic thingy and moved it. You will also have to mod the front panel lower clip. Installed a FanBus to attach the 120mm front, 80mm back and 80mm blowhole top. The FanBus 3-way switches let me run 12vdc/off/7vdc. Also drilled out the front panel holes to allow more airflow and use velcro inside to attach filter. Quite a bit of modifications but the airflow when I finished was excellent and reduced my case temps.

I just got the Enlight 7237 myself, and the intake fan it came with was a "magic" fan can anyone tell me how many rpm's this fan does or if it is one of those fans that send pulses to the mobo so the rpm rate can be read.

Done by many. See www.2cooltech.com,, under articles. Use filter and Panaflo 120 fan at 12 volts....very quiet. I've done it to two 7237's. Bezel will still be held in place with lessened retention...it will not fall off. Very worthwhile mod.

I did it to mine and I neither lost the use of an internal 3.5" bay nor the clip on the bezel. Both work fine and the fan is f*ing huge!

See here.

My case has 2 other 120mm fans in it as well, as witnessed by this and this. I have to say though, the case is really loud because I used Sunon fans instead of Panaflos. Ah well, it's all good! Especially since my Thunderbird 800 runs at 1070 at a very cool temp, seen here. Mwa ha ha ha ha!!!!!!

Raptor13, I'd love to see the pics you talk about, but the links you posted gave File Not Found errors.
