Anyone folding using new windows multi processor client?

xbassman I didn't notice that benchmark on there I will have to do some checking with that. I just fired up the smp client on my old opteron dual core again and it doesn't look good. I thought I saw someone else using the smp client on dual core. I am going to give it a day before I pull the plug.

My WHS has a more recent athlon dual core, I may give it a try on that over the weekend.

Yeah the benchmark is a cool feature.

Not sure what you mean by that.

I just got home and I am at 92%. Most definitely a MAJOR improvement. I can get used to this.

Switch as in flag/command to allow the d/l of the a3 core.

I assume you meant me deleting my work. The WU had expired and the client just kept telling me that without trying to download new work. Got tired of spinning my wheels.

Well apparently the ole Opteron doesn't have enough power for the smp. Just a few hours short of a day and only at 10% and is due in 20 hours. I doubt the other dual core I have is powerful enough either. IT is 2.71Ghz and the opteron is 2Ghz. I doubt that will be enough difference. What do you think?

Edit/ Well wait just a minute. I went into the 2 standard clients using the -configonly flag and told them to remove as a service. I figured everything was hunky dory. I just noticed the percent of the 2 standard clients were climbing on the folding monitor. I just went and checked I had 2 standard clients and the smp client going on the opteron. No wonder the smp is only 10% along. I will let keep on cranking now to see how that will help. Sheesh I can't believe I did that.

Edit2/ Well now that is more like it. Looks like the Opteron has enough after all. At the rate it is cranking out now it will still get the WU in before it is due. I wouldn't mind putting this on my other dual core but it is windows home server OS. I kind of forgot about the oddities of that earlier when I said I was going to put it on there. I will have to read a bit before I do that.

Boy I hope those bonus points are pretty good. I am losing ground to MAGratton. I now forget what I was getting with the linux smp client but it was an easy thousand points more than the wu's I am putting up with the windows smp client currently. I will be sending up my third wu on my quad tomorrow and another a few hours later on my dual core. Should be sending another on my laptop sometime Monday. That will be half way there. Hopefully I won't be passed before I get my 10 units in.

Not really worried about getting passed I just want to stay in the top 100 now that I am there. I have to throw up another 12 thousand points to pass bob then it won't matter. Looks like I need to go into work tomorrow to send up results and get new units. Need all the help I can get.

The bonus points seem to be a pretty good increase in PPD as long as you're turning in results in a timely manner. HFM.net is pretty much spot on with it's estimates on PPD production and bonus calculation.

I can't compare your results with Linux, but have seen an increase in PPD of 20-30% with my main box running WinXP since upgrading to the new WinSMP.

Another thing to watch out for.
There seems to be a bug with the new client where it will stall when trying to send in results.
I have only seen it on one machine (my newest one of course), but it has stalled on 2 of the 3 work units it has completed. A quick restart of the client resolves it, but doesn't bring back the bonus points lost from sitting idle.

Hopefully they will fix that one soon.
