Anyone from DC area

Hey all,

I have been traveling every week to DC area,(Herndon VA to be exact) and was wondering where I might be able to take some work folk to in DC? Like some good bars or good clubs?

What sort of place are you looking for? It's work people, so I won't just assume you want the craziest place in the area or anything.

Not the craziest but somewhere fun, I found a place called Fur Night club, ever heard of it?

ya Fur is the house section of the club Glow... it's alright, too crowded for me and not in the greatest part of DC. If you want to stay local to Herndon you can hit up Ned Devines, which is in Herndon and a cool Irish pub.

It's a nice club, very large with many different dance rooms playing everything from hip hop, trance/techno and salsa/hispanic. Be prepared to spend some money when you go there though...parking, admission, drinks will run you over $100 at least. And it's very crowded, to the point that it's uncomfortable.

It's not my scene anymore, but I had some fun times when I used to go clubbing there.

I'm still offering to answer the question, but you have to be more specific about the type of place you want.

I may want to go to Brasserie Beck for good food and lots of Belgian beer. You may want to go to Fur with the douchebags (if you want a club, you can do better, but you haven't specified that). Blind opinion? Dr. Dremos in Arlington. Countless fine beers on tap. No liquor. Best laid back atmosphere to hold a beer in the area. But then you'll say you want a place like Play.

Bottom line, every bar or club in the DC area is good to someone. Be specific about what you're looking for.

don't go to Fur, it's probably not the type of place you want to take co-workers especially if they've never been out in DC before.

i would just go to the dupont area where lucky bar, 12-23, five, and all that crap is. there are tons of places w/in 100 feet of eachother and you guys can just pick a place that looks interesting.

Funny I work in Herndon, off of worldgate drive and elden.

Exit ten from the toll road.

Anyways a nice chill bar that is frequented by the office folk is Ned Devines, it is in the clocktower off of sunrise valley. Literally 1 mile from Exit 10 off the toll road.


Now if you want to go to DC takem to M street, and just walk around there.

There is a good block of restaurants in dupont circle near L and 19th (Oodles of Noodles <-- good quick Thai food)

Hit up Adams morgan as well good place to walk eat and club.

And of course good ol Georgetown.

exactly, you (the op) gave us exactly zero information on which to suggest a bar. answer some of the questions we've asked and then we can help.

Hmmm.

Mate: Cool place in Georgetown. You can go early in the evening for a nice sushi dinner and drinks or late in the evening for some relaxing house music.

Mi N Yu (IIRC): In Georgetown again, a little pricey but cool atmosphere. Has good food if you decide to dine there. Reservation required.

Lima: On K Street, it is one of the most popular clubs in DC. If you want to dance, the lower floor is your place. If you want to talk with people, 2nd floor.

K Street Lounge: Good place to go with work people. Nice atmosphere for conversation.

Dragonfly: 1st floor is good for dining with good music, and drinks.

SPANK (MCCXXIII): It used to be great but I am not sure these days... a lot of college kids so its kinda annoying if you ask me. Still has a good atmosphere & music though.

Ultra: Used to be good like Spank but again, too many college kids...

I'm currently in Herdon, and right near Ned Devine's. Here until next Wednesday, maybe later. Drove to Baltimore last weekend, about and hour's drive.

Ugghh, is that the place that used to be called 'Home' near New York Ave. or is that the one in NE? Either way, I can't stand those places unless the weather's bad (went before a snowstorm last time and it was perfect!)

edit: To answer your question--if you're looking for an after-work thing with coworkers you'd be better off staying in Arlington--look at places in the Courthouse or Clarendon areas. I like Guarapas--good food and great drinks but it can get pricey.
